My Pastor said in his sermon just after the attacks, that God did not let this happen.
In the human heart there is the choice of good and evil
Those that follow God are saved; those that do not are not.
The choice is up to each of us, as are the consequences.
People who chose evil in their hearts attacked us.

God niether makes things happen, nor does He prevent them. He leaves that up to humanity, IMHO.
While the exclusion of God and morality as described in the article are undeniably major problems, the idea that Bloody Tuesday was Divine Revenge doesn't fly by me.
Nor is the sh*t state of our country a matter of Punishment: that's just the natural progression of a society without God.

This is a ridiculous question. Why does God let anything bad happen at all? Why did God allow the Civil War, WWI, WWII, the Korean War and Vietnam to happen? Is every bit of human strife due to God punishing us? What did the Afghan peasants do to deserve a life a pain, suffering, oppression and starvation? Why does a child deserve to grow up in a fly infested poverty-stricken culture? When you can answer these questions and more then you can answer why God let 9/11 happen.
