Just be glad they didn't make sure you had on clean undies.

I'd wager nearly 80% of all flight delays of late are due to securityYeah me too but for 74 minutes followed by a crash into Queens??

If they were heels, perhaps they thought you would make the short male flight attendants feel self-conscious.

Maybe it was Big Bird.
We should be so lucky!

Zookies - you're right!
Oh man, youre all over the map. Its either Jinkies (Velma's buzz-phrase) or Zoinks (Shaggy's).
(I have a two year old, so Im reliving the horror that is the lamely drawn and repetitively scripted Scooby Doo.)

>>>Still can't believe they made me take my shoes off in KC. <<<
I had a guy sitting across the asile from me who took his shoes off - the smell was enough to bring down most airliners. I think the guy was from Indonesia or Philippine and chewing beatle nuts - loooked like he had been on a plane (or maybe a container) for ten days.
Hope you passed the test!

My bad. I yield. My age thingy confuses my memory sometimes.

Age schmage.....your "hard drive" just needs to be purged of some of the useless data!

Not another word since. I will keep watching and update if I see anything else. They are now once again scrolling that it is leaning towards mechanical. I guess we will have to see.
Lady GOP...I saw your reply in another thread about not buying the Birds, mechanical failure stories and I agree 100%.

Media and or govt better be prepared to prove it wasnt terrorism. And what of the security delay..? Isnt that strange when they report a news story and then later it is yanked or altered..?

Something smelled fishy, but they missed it??
the plane must have been hit by a bloody pelican!

makes me wonder why the gub'ment declared no terrorist activity involved in this crash so soon after it happened....
only the pure sheeple would swallow this dismismal so easily.
seems logical to believe it could be terrotrists, considering the gov admits to advance warning of possible "unknown" terror activities on that actual day....

It's Scooby
and Astro. Both were sadly saddled with a doggy speech impediment at birth. Even their mothers can't tell them apart on the phone.
As to the original topic: The delay could be security-related, and the engines may not have shredded, and birds may not have been sucked into the engines, and it still might well be an accident. Not to splash cold water on the theorists among us, but an accident has a better gut feel to this reporter of 20-plus years.
That said, a couple of observations: The vertical piece of wreckage from the tail (pardon my aero ignorance) seems out of place in the debris path. And is it really possible for both engines to detach from the plane before impact? Could a small device be planted on the plane's exterior and avoid detection? What would it have to do to take down a large plane?
I don't know. That's why I come here: to find out what I don't know.

74 minutes, the big IF, if there was a timed bomb on the plane that much time would have put it over water I think, oh well, IF is the big disclaimer.

Perhaps Governor Ridge could encourage the Port Authority to get rid of the Mafia goons that control everything on wheels at Idlewild.

They just wanted to make sure you didn't have any holes in your socks."Holy Socks, Batman!" "Now, Robin, you have to understand that this is a Maxwell Smart gig. The perp has C4 in his left shoe... I know...(frustration), his phone is supposed to be there. This is how they throw us off." "Now the guy with three laptops and fourteen garment bags named Achmed-Allah?, he's okay." "The folks in Berkley, CA have confirmed that Achmed-Allah is a politically- correct terrorist." "You see, I told you, Achmed is drinking bottled water." "He's gotta be 'okay'."
