"But such events show that the Taliban were not popular anywhere. People were just afraid of them."

Note to the media for the next war.

They fear that angry opposition forces or others may kill them as soon as they are captured."

And this is bad...how?? These two clowns need to be ejected from the land of the living ASAP. NA forces are more than capable of handing these men a strong dose of the swift justice they deserve in their own special way. God forbid OBL and/or Omar are captured by U.S. forces and some military attorney is called in. What a circus that would produce.

According to that source, U.S. intelligence officials in Afghanistan are now working with the opposition forces and Pashtun rebels in southern parts of the country to ensure that "the two fugitives are caught alive. They fear that angry opposition forces or others may kill them as soon as they are captured."

I hate to admit this; but, I'm rooting for the opposition forces. Dead is better for this guy; he will only become a focal point if left alive and brought over to the U.S. for trial.

Let's hope this talk of "fear" by U.S. Intelligence officials for the lives of Omar and Bin Laden is just touchy-feely spin to satisfy apron-string holders on the Left. Both men should be shot on sight, no questions asked.

"Mr. President, we are sorry to report that we captured that Son of A B----, ... er Osama Bin Laden, and while we were transporting him back to the United States, he was pushed, ... er fell overboard. While we were hiding, ... er searching for a lifejacket, the Bas----, ... er Mr. Bin Laden was lost and presumed drowned. For a while we were able to keep a rope, which was around his neck, ... er waist on him, but the sharks were swimming faster than our vessel, and somehow managed to get in a few bites, before the rope was let go, ... er broke. We expect to get the ship back up to full speed within the hour. We rejoice in, ... er regret the incident, but would like to add that our goons, ... er lawyers were able to beat the crap out of, ... er question him, and we do have a signed confession. Mysteriously, all of the other high ranking Taliban and Al Queda members that we captured received the same sentence, ... er jumped in to save their esteemed leader. It was an awesome, ... er awful sight to see. We expect to arrive back in Norfolk some time next week."

Osama had the NA's heroic general Massoud killed right before 9/11. Did you see Massoud's picture on the windows of the troop transporsts? He's their twin towers. The NA might just love to find and kill Osama. (And collect that reward too.)

The United States is closed to achieving its objective in Afghanistan: capturing suspected terrorist mastermind Osama bin Laden and others responsible for the Sept. 11 terror attacks on New York and Washington, diplomatic sources in Islamabad said Tuesday.

Who says that these are all of our objectives? I think that this is liberal spin to pressure President Bush to stop the war on terrorism.

from "The Man Who Would be King" by Rudyard Kipling

He fumbled in the mass of rags round his bent waist; brought out a black horsehair bag embroidered with silver thread, and shook therefrom on to my table--the dried withered head of Daniel Dravot Osama bin Laden! The morning sun that had long been paling the lamps struck the red beard and blind sunken eyes; struck, too, a heavy circlet of gold studded with raw turquoises, that Carnehan placed tenderly on the battered temples.

'You be'old now,' said Carnehan, 'the Emperor in his 'abit as he lived--the King of Kafiristan with his crown upon his head. Poor old Daniel that was a monarch once!'

May it be the same with Osama and Omar.

I have always felt that this is the point in history where Iowa will really come into its own-- as the final resting place for Islamic "martyrs."

Buried in a pig's skin, their head in the pig's head, under either a state-of-the-art hog raising facility, or possibly under one of the so-called lagoons that hold hog feces.

Who knows, it might even generate tourism and improve pork prices.

I hope that is correct--but I agree with those who say we want him alive for interrogation, and to be able to verify his identity.

Doesn't look like Ramadan's going to be a problem. I wonder if we've already got him and are questioning him prior to turning him over to the opposition? I know we don't want the opposition to kill him, just like we didn't want the NA to go into Kabul...But it makes sense we would chat with him first.

Fine, as long as they capture a bullet ridden burned corpse with flies all over it. I would dig that.

WHY? WHY? WHY? They need not be alive! This is stupid! I don't want Bin Laden in the Hague, I want him hanged! Let them butcher him if they find him... let them disembowel him slowly... so long as he and the leaders of the Taliban and Al Queda are dead, that is all the world needs to know.

OK, I've been thinking... Like the movie 1984, restrain Binny in a chair, lock his face inside a stabilized steel screen, introduce into the screen a VERY HUNGRY pot-bellied pig....YUM YUM!! Offer this event on pay-per-view from a hog stockyard. The money could be used as a reward for the rest of his family and friends.

Seriously folks, there are a lot, AND I MEAN A LOT, of former Taliban militiamen in NA custody at this moment who know the precise whereabouts of 1 Usama bin Laden. You can bet that those SF Troops that you saw on the tube -- y'know the ones dressed in civies -- are presently 'supervising' the interogations in some dank Kabul basement. It shouldn't be too long now!

When do you suppose the Taliban and bin Ladin will catch on to the fact that Allah ain't on their side?
