That should be understood anytime you upgrade ANY operating system software. I lost data once on a system I was migrating from AIX 4.1.5 to 4.3.3. I learned my lesson. It took me 8 hours to reconstruct the database.

Another AIX man. Good. I had a near-death experience recently on mine - going to service release 8 from 7. Thank God for mksysb, eh? Another fun one was when the ownership of my db chunks changed during a different upgrade. I couldn't get my informix running to save my life. Once I saw what had happened, it was an easy fix, but to this day I don't see what changed that particular part of the system.
