Sounds like maybe a bomb onboard, not trying to panic, just sounds odd. Eyewitness reports pieces of plane falling from the air, a 4X4 piece of plane hit the hood of a car.

If an engine blew it would scatter a bunch of debris and could very easily appear to have been hit by a missile.
