Morning programming interrupted to announce that a commercial plane has crashed in a residential section of The Rockaways near Kennedy Airport, and that at least four houses are on fire at the crash scene. No other details yet.

Plane Crashes in Queens

The Associated Press
Monday, November 12, 2001; 9:31 AM NEW YORK –– A plane crashed Monday morning near Beach 129th Street and Newport Avenue, in the Rockaways, Queens.

Buildings reportedly were on fire in the neighborhood. Thick, black smoke could be scene in televised reports.

The type of plane was not immediately known.

Go back and look at the earlier postings. It is full on misinformation, rumor, speculation, etc. It would be nice if people would be a little slower posting so they could get better information. I realize some of the errors are from the national media, but some are pure speculation based upon other crashes.
