Anger seethes toward West

Some Muslims in North America secretly hate their adopted society

By LICIA CORBELLA -- Calgary Sun

I read an article this week that so disturbed me -- though enlightened me at the same time -- I thought I would share it. It is a piece written by Dennis Wagner of the Arizona Republic and was titled: "Muslims torn between love of Islam and America." It is a deceptive title since nowhere in it was there any indication that these so-called Americans loved America at all.

It started out quoting Moayaad Hamad, who was wearing a striped Polo shirt, Nikes and was donning a cellphone strapped to his 501 Levis. This is what he had to say about his adopted country.

"It's getting to the point where I hate being here, even though I'm a citizen," said the 22-year-old structural engineer from Phoenix. "I don't think many (Muslims) are willing to say this because they are afraid to say it ... The Qu'ran doesn't justify taking out the World Trade Center, but Islam means not just peace, but freedom. You have to defend yourself."

It's the "but," that really gets me there. What, pray tell, is anyone defending themselves against by slamming commercial jet liners into the World Trade Center. But that's not what really troubled me.

The same article goes on to interview Ihsan Saadeddin, spokesman for the Phoenix Islamic Community Center, who is described as having a beautiful suburban home with a child's painting of an American flag on the front door.

"I love the Constitution of America. I love the freedom of religion, the freedom of speech," Saadeddin said. Yet, says the article, he also believes "the ideal system is a male-controlled Islamic state," and he acknowledges discomfort with free speech that criticizes Islam.

Maybe it's because I'm a woman and women -- let's be perfectly frank -- don't fare too well in countries that describe themselves as following Islamic law. What's maddening is this fellow would like to have it both ways.

He currently "loves" the freedom of religion and speech enshrined in the U.S. Constitution because it allows him to practise his beliefs and say what he wants.

But, let's not beat around the bush here. If he and most of his fellow believers had his way, he would tear up the very foundation that gives him his rights in order for him to impose his views on his fellow Americans and me.

As one Christian pastor who is familiar with Muslim countries wrote in an email recently: "Islam advocates and pleads for tolerance wherever it is in the minority; it advocates, implements and practices suppression and violence wherever it is in the majority."

I know this column will anger many Muslims, but before you write me to complain, finish this little exercise: Name one country that follows Islamic law that can be said to be free and just and that has more people immigrating to it than want to emigrate from it?

You won't be able to because not one exists.

For the most part, Muslims want to move to the West. The Qu'ran very clearly calls on its believers to "fight and slay the pagans (infidels) wherever you find them, and seize them, beleaguer them and lie in wait for them in every stratagem of war." Qu'ran, Sura 9:5.

It is probable that the vast majority of North American Muslims do not think that non-Muslims must be slain. But if not in body, certainly in spirit. Though the body will do in certain circumstances.

Saadeddin, the fellow who says he loves the constitution, when asked to comment on the Palestinian who straps a bomb to his body and blows up a pizzeria full of women and children, views that as justified.

"If someone fights to gain his freedom, that's not terrorism," he said. "I don't even call them suicide attacks there. I call them martyrs."

The Levis-wearing engineer, Hamad, said: "I don't see anything necessarily wrong with the bombing of the (USS) Cole," referring to the attack in Yemen last year that killed 17 U.S. sailors.

This fellow is an American?

Elisabetta Burba, an Italian journalist, reported for the Wall Street Journal from Beirut that she saw well-heeled professionals cheering in the streets following the Sept. 11 attacks.

"The cafe's sophisticated clientele was celebrating, laughing, cheering and making jokes, as waiters served hamburgers and Diet Pepsi. Nobody looked shocked or moved. They were excited, very excited," she wrote.

She was told that 90% of the Arab world believes that America got what it deserved.

"An exaggeration?" she asks. "Rather an understatement."

Until recently I believed that seething anger towards the West existed only in far flung places of the world. But of late -- and I have much more evidence -- I'm starting to fear that many people who live in North America secretly feel the same way.

It troubles me and here's why.

I know that I would be executed post-haste in virtually any Islamic country for doing just what I have done here, write some facts and some opinion that the rulers don't like.

On this Remembrance Day (Veteran's Day) most of us will reflect on the high cost of freedom.

Those angry men I have quoted here have exercised that hard-won freedom.

We will have dropped the torch thrown to us by the failing hands of our veterans if we refuse to listen -- and hear -- their frightening message.

I recommend an amendment be passed outlawing Islam. All Muslims here citizen or not must recant in public or be deported( and they must prove this recantation of Islam by publicy blaspheming Allah). I would exempt the Turks from this because no Turk has ever been involved in terrorism and they really hate Fundamentalist Islam. All Muslims around the world of the so called Salafi/Wahabbi school would either switch off or face some form of execution where they'd be defiled in pork. This is an ideological war and cannot be resolved by civilized means. Half measures will only bring more suffering in the long term.

Your proposal sounds extreme at first glance, but then when we look at the stakes involved, it's not a bit. Most Americans have not awakened to the profound danger of what's going on. Not only is this a new style of warfare, it's a style whereby our very strengths as a society become our weaknesses. We cannot be the host culture for those who wish to destroy us, overtly or merely by their presence here among us as a weakening force to our resolve.

This is the first and hopefully last test of the Policitally Correct, neo-Bolshevik Liberal notion and ideal of a value-neutral society, wherein all values and faiths have equal claim to truth in the public forum and as a consequence no truth at all has any public moral force whatever. In a school system where it's not permitted to say "Merry Christmas" but encouraged to say "have a blessed Rammadan" there can be no other product but a generation of cynics and anti-patriotic robots of the sort that ruled my own generation of the regrettable sixties.

This war either spells the death of Political Correctness or the death of America, I can see no intermediate outcome. And the media are about the business of trivializing the war effort. Where they should be praising the remarkable achievement of toppling our enemies in a matter of weeks after the atrocities of 9-11, they are instead parroting "Where's Osama?"

Sort of in the line of "I ordered fries with this!"

Time will tell. I personally believe that we need to rein in Israel, while dictating the absolute partition of Palestine from our position of power, withdraw from Saudi Arabia, threaten to nuke Mecca if things don't go our way and then carry it out if they don't. Did I hear someone say they all hate us? Well screw them, says I.

But then it is 0100 hours and it's been a long day.

All the best,

I like you but we need to unleash and not reign in Israel. Reigning in Israel is just appeasing the Arabs. Appeasment shows weakness and invites more attacks. Israel can take out Syria and then Iraq for us. We should go after Saudi Arabia.

I was not clear on Israel. I agree that we need to use them as allies. Their political system however is so democratic that it leads to chaos. We should use our influence over them to encourage them to stop relying on Palistinian labor and to go ahead and partition in a way that makes terrorism on the part of Hamas and the rest virtually impossible. Then, by all means, unleash them. I'm all for it. The sooner we win this war the better and the sooner we engage, the sooner we will win. It may spell the death of Globalism and world government fantasies, but that's all to the good.

America for Americans. Let the Saudis get used to no Nikie shoes and no TeeVee and all the rest of their addictions to our technological brilliance while despising us. If all this means gauranteeing our oil supplies by force of arms, so be it. No more Mr. Nice Guy.

I even have a name for it. "Operaton Strong Horse." When people of the Muslim world ask why the name, the reply is simple. The Late Sainted Osama bin remarked in his atrocious vidio that human nature dictates a respect for power, first last and always. If a man looks at two horses, he said, a weak horse and a strong horse, he will always favor the strong horse.

And that's us folks. The Strong Horse, and we need to start acting the part, with no apologies to anyone. Take care and sleep well.

I also dislike democracy( you are gettin my freeper of the year nomination). Democracy was not what our founders envisioned they feared it even more than a monarchy( in fact when they saw it coming they offered the crown to Washington who refused it). They wanted a republic meaning constraints on what the government could vote in as limited by the constituition and franchise restricted to the upper class. Universal franchise leads to socialism as the unproductive vote away the money via taxes of the productive classes. It also leads to demagougery( the Demonrats).

I have been witnessing so much hatred lately and the ammount of ignorance, prejudice, double standards is just amazing. As though as some people have just been waiting to show all of their hatred, that kthat they have an excuse to show it in all the worst possible way

You are sooooo right.

Where was all this hatred when we were on the Afgani's side fighting Russia.

If I remember right Osama wasn't such a bad guy when we were supporting him and his Islamic crew.

"I consider every muslim to be my enemy."

200 years from now, I want their children's children's children's children to cower and cringe in fear whenever they hear the sounds of jet engines overhead because their legends tell of fire from the sky.

I want them to hide in dark caves and holes in the earth, shivering with terror whenever they hear the roar of diesel engines because the tales of their ancestors talk about metal monsters crawling over the earth, spitting death and destruction.

I want their mothers to be able to admonish them with "If you don't behave, the Pale Destroyers will come for you", and that will be enough to reduce them to quivering obesience.

I want the annihilation to be so complete that their mythology will tell them of the day of judgment when the stern gods from across the sea .. the powerful 'Mericans .. destroyed their forefathers' wickedness.

"Kill them all ... nits make lice."

During the second world war, we did not pretend that there were good Nazis who we allowed to immigrate here, and bad Nazis who we fought against. Its time for us to recognize that it is just as foolish to pretend that we can differentiate between good and bad Mo'Hams. Islam is a political and religious system dedicated to our destruction. Islam is the enemy.

Good Point!

The problem with the Muslims is they need to be shouting reform from the rooftops - before the fundamentalist 'dark side' destroys their religion. The meek shall perish.

Exactly! It is impossible to determine the good from the bad. We have all seen what happens when we assume they are all good. As I see it, we have no choice now but to regard them all as the enemy.
