Under any standard that counted all disputed votes in Florida, Gore erased Bush's advantage and emerged with a tiny lead that ranged from 42 to 171 votes.

This is simply untrue on the face of it. No standard that counted non-votes as votes would have been legal under Florida law. Florida law is specific on what constitutes a valid vote. People are told in the booth what constitutes a vote and to choose accordingly. If they void their ballot, then it's an invalid ballot. Period. There is no recourse. One punch for each office per ballot and the punch has to be clean, with the chad entirely removed. Anything less is a non-vote. That people go on and on to moan about voter intent simply shows the degree to which they're out of touch with reality.

Of course they went for the overvotes! Those are the ones that were created during the recount after recount process evidenced by chad litter all over the place. Hmmmm. Wonder how that happened?

Right - if they want to count "non-votes" maybe they can figure out the votes in the Central time zone (panhandle) not cast because of media errors in calling the state for Gore too early.

This is a win-win-win for us. We have fresh anecdotal evidence of the character of our opponents. SCOTUS did the right thing, establishing a precedent. And best of all, vote-stealing will be more difficult in the future, because new protections will be instituted as a result of the Goron's outrages. IMO there were places where more votes were counted for the Goron than people registered as Dems ( a city on a lake...).

Anyway. this was and still is very silly stuff. In short, The democrats are an effective political powerhouse, but they failed when it mattered most. Too funny.

The only reason the nationwide strategy of voter fraud and ballot tampering failed was because of the "butterfly" ballot. Voters were not confused by the ballot, the machine used to tamper with the punch card ballots was designed to punch the number two hole and the designer of the machine did not know a local election official made Buchanan the number two hole. There are no names on punch card ballots, only numbers.

Had it not been for the "butterfly" ballot, the the ballot tampering would have succeeded and Gore would be President illegally.

That's exactly what happened. They counted, recounted, counted the recounts, then recounted the counted recounts until finally, after 10 months of re-re-re-re-counting, Gore wins!

The best thing we can do is work as hard as we can to elect Republican congressional majorities in 2002. This will speak much louder than any recounting of the 10,000th recount.
