I'm not real sure where you are coming from Tunehead54. I thought that I finally saw a US president explain to these "diplomats" (who are living higher on the hog in the USA than they ever would), that the game is up. Someone is FINALLY going to call you, and, you will (really) have to put up or shut up.
If in fact, what Bush did was just "diplo-speak," and, Bush was just playing the usual game that was played by Clinton, and his ilk, for the past 20 years, I really think you are wrong. I may be naive, but I really feel that, perhaps, this time, we are past the games and diplomatic bullshit.
I still think that it was a very strong speach - not only the text, but the delivery as well. (granted - the translations to the UN morons probably lost something)
To: fred flinch
What bothered me was the lack of applause during his speech, by those at the UN is this how they do things at those meetings?
as john wayne once said " im not doing this for clapping im doing this for my country"

Sorry you misunderstood. I'm responding to TwoDees (please buy a clue) and giving you a heads up - love to go on but its time to plop a steak or two on the barbie. - Just go back through the thread - you'll see - you're right and all is well. President Bush is doing everything right. 'Course the Postal guys dropped the ball - but I think they're fixing that.
Great Speach!

Thanks, got to see most of it but had to rush off to a flag football game. The part i saw was great as usual. The networks continue to not know what to do about this. hehehe

I did, nosey. Bush said what appears in the transcript which heads the thread. I suppose now, you'll have to give me your translation of the text as well.

Show me where Bush said what you imagine he said. Was it right before he said that the UN's "principled leadership" was needed? You're delusional.

[You called the summary incorrect]
That wasn't a summary. It was an invention from rocket's mind. Why does someone need to translate the speech for you? Are you so blinded by hero worship that you've lost your command of English?

Thanks for the reply - enjoy the steaks - (if you can ever find some Andrias sauce - Andrias Restaurant in Ill - try it - Incredible - all veggies base - wonderful flavor) I've never been there, but a marinaded steak, in this stuff, is the best you will ever have - even YOU, can't screw it up. When we lived in Mexico City, a friend in the shipping business liked it so much that he had two cases shipped thru Vera Cruz. It didn't cost him much, but it must have cost his shipping lines Thousands (Lykes - maybe thats why they went belly up!)
Have a great weekend

Speach = Speech.
There is no way I screwed that up. Darn internet - scrambling my posts! Probably the VRWC!

Every delegate at the UN General Assembly listens to earphones with translations into hundreds of languages. Probably, hard to applaud with these different delays.
To: ClaireSolt
I think you meant to address that post to someone else. The point had already been made several times, BTW.
To: Twodees
That wasn't a summary. It was an invention from rocket's mind. Why does someone need to translate the speech for you? Are you so blinded by hero worship that you've lost your command of English?Show me on this thread where I partake in "hero worship" -- you can't. You've criticized somebodies summary of Bush's speech, so I've asked you to give me your summary -- you can't. Let the record of this thread and the things that you have said on it -- stand.
To: Twodees
Crawl back in your demented hole. You're hatred for anything Bush, or Republican, is so perverse, that you cannot see beyond anything that might be a positive for the USA.
You seem like a pathetically sad and lonely individual. Maybe you should go and find the threads about how the Democrats REALLY won the election. Sit there and fantasize.
Or, mix yourself a Vinigar and Water - Doucebag!
Have a nice lonely weekend
To: Twodees; stlrocket
No, he said no such thing. It's amazing how some folks can read something in plain English and translate it into Martian. You wanted him to say what you claim he did, and you approve of him, therefore in your mind he said exactly what you wanted him to say.Don't know what speech you heard, but stlrocket has it right!
Of course, he didn't use those exact words. Diplomacy is required. However, these were VERY VERY strong words. He was indeed putting certain countries (let's see, Iran and Lebanon, just to name a couple)on notice that we absolutely mean business.
To: RobFromGa
Wonderful speech! And I wonder if he already knew the details of the bin Laden video making the rounds of his supporters for 2 weeks in which bin Laden spoke of good terrorists.
To: deport
Thanks for the flag, deport. I didn't see it live, and am glad to have a chance to read the transcript.
An excellent, even awesome speech.
