I was thinking the same thing about the speechwriter. That person must really be in tune with W.

You boys sound like a bunch of liberals. I guess you're what passes for conservatives these days in the GOP. If anyone doesn't see your hallucinations with you, then they must be democrats, because in your minds, there are only democrats and republicans. It's comical that you think there's a difference between the two.

Twodees -- you say nothing of substance to me -- you make no points.

Here is your above post without insults and unsubported statements --> ""

Mercuria-->Kissing the U.N.'s tushie for being "resolved to keep the most basic commitment of civilization" is an out-and-out distortion...and will accomplish something that might not cause Americans who cherish our freedoms to give three big cheers in the future.

Bush-->Every civilized nation here today is resolved to keep the most basic commitment of civilization. We will defend ourselves and our future against terror and lawless violence.

*Bwaha* -- You chopped off the very important first part of Bush's sentence, totally misrepresenting what Bush said. That would be " every civilized nation" he was referring to -- not the U.N. Why must you do that to try and make a point? Being the intelligent person that you are, I know you -- not Twodees -- can do better than that.

Too bad you decided to take the personal comment route again, Dane. Rowdee and I aren't alone here in stating our disapproval of the U.N. Dan from Michigan, for example, who I believe is a very dedicated Republican and who voted for Bush, thinks the U.N. is bad news, too.

Again, here's the quote on which I remarked:

Every civilized nation here today is resolved to keep the most basic commitment of civilization. We will defend ourselves and our future against terror and lawless violence.

The United Nations was founded in this cause.

Do you think the U.N. was founded in that cause?

Well, it wasn't.

And I've never made it a secret that I think the U.N. sucks wind.

Neither have many loyal Bush supporters on this board.

Care to slap them around for "not being able to see the forest for the trees"? I'll really dig seeing the results of that. **g**

While I am sure many RINO's would throw rose petals, conservatives will only throw their shoes at this nest of parasites and American haters.

And they have - continually - on this board...Republicans and non-Republicans alike!

Liberty for the masses is not exactly what the UN strives for.

The U.N. exposes itself for what it really is continually on its very own website. One just has to do a little reading on there to figure that out!

If you folks would prefer to pretend that the President put the UN on notice about anything, then go ahead.

Looked to me like he praised them right off the top, and throughout most of his speech.

Here's the one place where the President called the U.N. to task:

It undermines the credibility of this great institution, for example, when the Commission on Human Rights offers seats to the world's most persistent violators of human rights. The United Nations depends above all on its moral authority and that authority must be preserved.

But earlier he said this:

These commitments — hope and order, law and life — unite people across cultures and continents. Upon these commitments depend all peace and progress. For these commitments we are determined to fight.

The United Nations has risen to this responsibility. On the 12th of September, these buildings opened for emergency meetings of the General Assembly and the Security Council. Before the sun had set, these attacks on the world stood condemned by the world.

And I want to thank you for this strong and principled stand.

He's giving the United Nations credit for the international condemnation of the assault on America.

Are the other nations of the world so hostile to us and so without character whatsoever that they were actually waiting on the United Nations to force a condemnation out of them?

The United Nations was founded in this cause.

Tell me just how I misrepresented that.

I reiterate...the United Nations was most certainly not founded to assist in "keep[ing] the most basic commitment of civilization" or to assist in "defend[ing] ourselves and our future against terror and lawless violence".

You're a newbie, so I guess you can be cut some slack...but try to remember this is supposed to be a "discussion board"...not a "spew my venom against anyone who disagrees with me" board.

Some people didn't view his speech the way you thought it should be viewed. Now debate like a grown-up, would you?

Sometimes I actually wonder how the GOP today sounds about like the DNC in the 60's. Gotta keep gettin' along so that one day they can be in charge. I guess nationally it is complete, so we now have to apply the principle internationally.

Good deal...the next Burro Canyon gig is due to go forward after the winter (days are just getting shorter!)...but if you would, please, FReepmail me a list of other ranges in your area...maybe we should have one closer to your neck of the woods...the county next door to yours has LOTS of grassroots-type gun-owner people! **g**

Blah, Blah, Blah, same old, same old from Mercuria. I guess you didn't read the speech Mercuria, where Bush basically said shove it to the UN.

But that does not matter to you. Bush could have said I am going to burn down the UN and you would still be complaining in the wilderness.

You will never be satisfied and always complain.

We probably could make a *BIG-MEET* in Southern California this time of the year. I will be happy to help organize and sponsor the event.

Best Regards!

Yep stlrocket it is best not to follow Mercuria's lead,

Here...dry your eyes and blow your nose on this U.N. flag...you'll feel sanctified. **g**(Mercuria reply #105)

Rocket you will find out that Mercuria sure can dish it, but can't take it. Kinda like Hillary.
