Can they wear pentagrams? I find pentagrams to be offensive. I find '666' logos to be offensive. And anything else that is satanic. I find the pagan 'sun god' to be offensive. I find Louis Fara-Con promotions to be offensive. Or any messages that make animals or trees equal to people.

But they're allowed to burn it, right?

I got no problems with schools banning blatant racist symbols like the Confederate whatever-you-all-it. I do hope they make it clear to all students that racist symbols--including, for example, "X" gear--won't be tolerated.

Racism goes all ways, these days.

"As long as there's no real problem caused by it, we don't have a problem with students wearing the Confederate emblem," Mr. Price said. "But given the disruption it's causing in the school, we felt like we needed to take this stance at this time."

Bovine manure...

The problem is the reaction and inability to control emotions by some members of the student body.

"Diversity" apparently means bowing to the wishes and demands of the minority population.

I think Disney ought to build "Confederate World" in Charleston, and let everybody start making money off the flag instead of banning it.

Another good reason to Homeschool your kids. Where the atmosphere is calm and safe. Where the learning is not interrupted by Hooligans of either stripe squaring off. A place of Positive reinforcement of family values and a chance to learn about real history for a change.

"what we call actions preceding a fight; they were yelling at each other and squaring off"

So now, disgreements between students are cause to be suspended from school?

Arghhhhh! The never ending cycle of modifying social behavior to fit the socialist, "we are one" agenda continues.

"...The black kids came out with the fact that they felt like we were a racist school, with the kids wearing the Confederate flag, and they made an issue out of it."..."

You hear this tortured construction a lot these days, even from people (like media functionaries) who are supposed to be able to speak English...

"...came out with the fact that they felt like..."

How many times have you heard precisely these words serving as a prelude to some sort of moronic, self-serving gibberish being presented as an undisputed truth? How many times have you heard these words slurred by some jabbering village idiot product of genetic roulette with the IQ of a toaster oven on the evening propaganda broadcast?

If you haven't, file the phrase away and listen for it.

You won't have to wait long to encounter it, the first time.

And then you'll notice it every time.

I apologize in advance for that.

This is one of the issues that will to continue to keep minorities out of the GOP. There is nothing wrong with celebrating your heritage, southern, northern, eastern or western, nothing wrong with pointing to the flag as a symbol of your pride, but you have to remember what that flag represents to many african americans. To them it is a symbol of rasicm and slavery. No amount explaining to them that that is not what it represents to you is going to matter to them. The flag is racist, period.

SO the only issue now is to decide how the party is going to react when this issue continues to pop up. Does the party and it's leaders denounce the flag? Show that they are sensitive to the concerns of African Americans? Try to get some of these people to actually consider voting GOP? Or do they continue to embrace the flag, poo pooing the concerns of African Americans, pretty much guaranteeing only about 10-20 percent of their vote?

What did the other side give up? Did the school system offer to suspend affirmative action? Did they offer to expel the NEA?

Enough is enough. This school needs to be picketed with Confederate flags and signs until they change their attitude.

In order for anyone to be offended, wouldn't they also have to have some knowledge of when and for what the flag was used for? As far as I know, they're not taught that! Hold up both the Cofederate and the American flag and ask the two black kids uder which flag was slavery more predominate. (of course this also only works if they know what nation the American flag flys over!)

What the h**l is the matter with these people? Having lived in Columbia county at one time, I am ashamed and appalled by the actions that have recently been occurring in Georgia in the "interest" of political correctness. I have always been proud of my southern heritage and have always stood up to those who would mock it saying most assuredly that the south would NEVER cave to the ridiculous demands of the likes of the ACLU and other pro-divisiveness organizations and leaders. I am proud to wear and fly the confederate flag and any southerner worth his salt, white or black, knows that our flag is about our history, our pride in who we are, a symbol of what sets us apart...and I am outraged by the attempts of outside forces to dilute our history and negate our voice, and disgusted by those who passively allow others to redefine us. Instead of looking to the People's Republic of California as our standard bearer, we should be looking to those who still magnify without apology the heart and guts that made us great, such as our sister state of Mississippi in giving the vote concerning issues of the south to the people of the south. If we passively surrender our symbolism to a few loud-mouthed malcontents, it is only a matter of time until the substance behind the symbol is sacrificed on the altar of political correctness. There are those who are determined to make this a slavery issue. Well, perhaps in a way it is, but not in the sense that is popularly supposed. It is instead about making the people of the modern south slaves to revisionist tyrants who demand that we call THEM "massa."

Instead of banning the clothing, why not ban the idiots who are causing the trouble? Typical liberal thinking, let's blame an inanimate object instead of a person.

From someone is is a YANKEE, in the NE sense, this really makes me mad. The Stars and Bars are a part of OUR history. This flag does NOT represent hate, nor slavery. It represents Americans who took it upon themselve to separate from the North. This was a sad time in our history, many good people on BOTH sides died. So I say DAMN the ACLU and the liberal left winged commies, FLY this FLAG. IT IS OUR HISTORY.... Oh, by the way, my Great Great Grandfather was a Union solder, and was wounded in the Battle of Gettysburg. SO THERE, you left winged commie lovers.

My draft letter to Trinity Marine, which should be sent to Lakeside with appropriate changes:

How DARE Trinity Marine Lakeside) be so "politically correct" and high handed and cowardly as to ban (hard-hats from wearing) the American Flag at ANY time, particularly at time of WAR!

This is DISGUSTING and almost treasonous!

SHAME on Trinity Marine (Lakeside)!

P.S. Mao Tse Tung coined the term "political correctness" which is a chillingly UN-American concept, which tramples on the Constitution and the First Amendment!

Ergo, you are Maoists, NOT Americans!

Folks, the Civil War has been over for more than 100 years.

The Yankees won. And yet they lost too. No one wins a civil war. Let's stop re-fighting it.
