PROTESTANT CHURCHES VIOLATE THE LAW WITH IMPUNITY
In the last week before election day, November 6, there were several violations of constitutional law and IRS regulations committed by Protestant churches. For example, on October 31, New Jersey candidate for governor, James E. McGreevey, won the endorsement of the Black Ministers Council of New Jersey. The group represents 600 churches. On November 4, New York mayoral candidate Mark Green campaigned in a string of black churches. And over the weekend, there was a gubernatorial fundraiser at a black church in Trenton, New Jersey, for McGreevey; DNC chairman, Terry McAuliffe, was present.
Catholic League president William Donohue spoke to this issue today:
Everyone knows what would happen if a group of Catholic priests, representing 600 churches, were to endorse a candidate for governor. Everyone knows what would happen if a candidate for mayor were to campaign at a Catholic Mass. Everyone knows what would happen if a fundraiser for a candidate for public office were to take place in a Catholic church. All hell would break lose.
Not one newspaper complained about what happened in black churches the week before the election in New York and New Jersey. Not one television or radio commentator complained. Not one word was heard from the ACLU, People for the American Way or Americans United for Separation of Church and State. But the latter group did complain about Catholic bishops in New Jersey who urged voters to consider human life issues when they vote.
Whats driving this is a curious admixture of racism and anti-Catholicism. Quite simply, there are no standards for blacks and a double standard for Catholics. The best thing that could happen would be if a black Catholic church were to hold a fundraiser for a political hopeful and then see what happens. That would really throw a monkey wrench into the process.
These guys see Guy Fawkes Day coming in "Touched By An Angel."
Why?
Because the media (1) refuses to investigate and report anything that threatens the democratic party...
(2) The media are scared to death of being charged with racism, because the liberal minions of these "churches" have NOTHING but false claims of racism to sustain them ....
(3) The "leaders" of these racist "churches" have nothing but false claims of racism to keep their money. No morals, no integrity, no honesty. Only MEMORIES of their previous (and admittely true) discrimination.
1) It is absolutely racism becuase one race gets a free ride on the issue of elctioneering from the pulpit.
2) It is anti-Catholicism because the press knows that the Catholic bishops would see to it that pro-abortion or anti-school-choice candidates would NEVER be endorsed by or allowed access to their pulpits - and so they are ravenous watchdogs when it comes to Catholic pulpits.
There is along and undeniable history of popular anti-catholicsm in the USA. It is much better in some ways now, but many policies and attitudes remain that are very anti-catholic. The animus used to be against the individual catholic who generally was devout and adhered to the Church's teachings - thus turning the Church into an alternative object of allegiance. Today the animus is against the Church leaders and teachings - most individuals are not so devout and do not always follow the teachings. But the moral force of JPII and the Catholic Church being the largest organization so comitted to traditional biblical values - well that makes the liberals scared and - sadly - it makes the some of the other conservative Christians a bit nervous becuase they do not like to see what they might consider to be the "whore of babylon" as the today's strongest biblical, moral force.
This really isn't a Catholic versus Protestant issue. And Black churches have been political since I was knee high to a grasshopper.
I also think it is a bit odious to post a Protestant bashing headline and then flag the "catholic list." It simply has a bad appearance.
Oh by the way, how is the election law being violated?
all-male clergy
obedience to authority
absolute truth
existence of evil and hell
traditional roles for women and men
mothering as primary vocation for most women
sex reserved for marriage
valid marriages are forever - no exceptions
marriage is one man and one woman forever
abortion and euthanasia are absolute evils
Man's utmost dignity as created in God's image
Sex is never a recreational activity
homosexuality is dosordered and an objective moral evil
Sunday as a day to worship the Trinity (rather than to celebrate eachother)
Be point blank; is this a protestant issue, or is this an issue about black churches that vote and and aid democrats? If it's about the latter, the title is intellectually dishonest. A title of "A few liberal Protestant ......"
Can you imagine the impact if Catholic churches could be politically active? The organizational structure and huge population of church-goers is potentially a captive audience.
There is the potential for the Church to be even more influential than the media and incumbents. That makes everyone afraid.
That's a reach! It is also true that my church, with a very strong mixture of color and ethnicity would also get into trouble if it endorsed any candidate. Our church is 30-40% black, but I know a great deal of them personally. Just for the record, I can easily decalare that the blacks in my church voted at least 90% for President Bush.
We'd still get into trouble for endorsing a candidate, even though we have members from all over the world. This is not an anti-Catholic issue; it's an issue of a simple double-standard. Predominantly black churches can endorse any liberal candidate that they wish, regardless of their affiliation.
I did, but the word "(liberal)" in the title does not imply that you are only speaking of select "protestant" churches. One could read that and determine that all protestant churches are liberal.
In fact, the end of your post goes on that say that the actions are both racist and anti-Catholic. How in the world is this anti-Catholic? Please!
That is correct, but my issue was about how you article implies that "Protestants" are generally violating election laws. I was responding to the area of elections, while you are trying to go somewhere else. Why?
This really isn't a Catholic versus Protestant issue.Hes right about this, Notwithstanding. Liberal catholic churches have held events where pro-aborts like Hillary! go speak, and nothing happens to them. This isnt Catholic v. Protestant, this is liberal v. Christian.

I get asked all the time: How do I get on this bump list? Well the answer is you cant! The FreeRepublic Master Bump List is not a list of people who get notified about a topic appearing on FreeRepublic but it is a list of topics that you can click on and have posts relevant to those topics displayed to you. There are many topics like WOD_list (War On Drugs) or Homeschool_list (Stories that Homeschoolers may be interested in) or Homosexual Agenda (A list of articles related to that topic). And they all appear on the The FreeRepublic Bump List
When you are reading an article you can add it to the list by posting a reply to that topic and in the TO box put the name of the list you want it to appear on preceded by an *. For example if you want the article to appear on the War on Drugs list then put *WOD_list in the TO: box instead of someones screen name. You can also put it on several lists by separating the list names with a simi-colon ;. Then when you want to see the list go to The FreeRepublic Master Bump List and click on the link for that list.
