"Any misstep and you can get into trouble with these guys and have the Patriotism Police hunt you down," said Erik Sorenson, president of MSNBC.

Has he noticed how hard it is to walk with his foot so firmly crammed down his throat?

The media, with rare exception, is little more than an intellectually vacant, pro-Taliban crime syndicate. They embrace a political platform that will lead to their destruction. I suspect that day is not far off.

It's not very hard to point out America's losers, just turn on the nightly news and listen to the anchors.

Oh my, where to begin? Practically every sentence in this deserves rebuttal! Here's a news flash: early in the piece they state that they are objective. Har har har! And to the lib news guy who mockingly wondered if he should use the three-fingered salute today, I suggest that he is thinking about two fingers too many when he salutes the public with his liberal drivel daily. It's just that now, he's being called on it. Sounds like the kitchen (the public) has gotten too hot for the girly boys in the newsroom, so now they have to start criticizing the public for being < gag > too patriotic.

John, you are so right about the integrity issue. Think Brit Hume vs. Peter Jennings.

ABC is missing the elephant in the living room. A few more people are chucking the Kool-Aid and turning to the 'net. FOX is kicking CNN in the backside with half the 'cable-connected homes' tied behind their back.

The fact that these enemy claims of 'heroic' success suddenly surfaced against the backdrop of palpable advancement on the battlefront by U.S. forces and the Northern Alliance should have raised skeptical eyebrows, but the pallbearers in the press were too busy attending a *funeral* to notice.

Well said.

Some day these "reporters" are going to figure out that Rumsfeld isn't a lying clinton clone.

Think Brit Hume vs. Peter Jennings.

Petunia Taliban Jennings doesn't deserve to stamp Brit Hume's passport. Jennings doesn't deserve to hold Brit's cue cards. Petah Canada-My-Home Benedict Arnold Jennings doesn't deserve to remain on US soil polluting the airways with his anti-American trash talk.

Thanks, my friend.

I believe they already do -- but they love airing Taliban propaganda.....

The media just don't understand the most important point. The terrorist network is at war against western civilization. Our media is part of western civilization. The terrorists are working to make Jennings DEAD, as well as all members of the media, and indeed, the rest of us, too.

In the interest of their own survival, the media should drop this self-destructive bias toward their own avowed enemies.

ABC, ipso post facto friend of the Nazis ... what else can the thinking public believe? I recall Petunia saying he would not advise US officials if he were on a war assignment and got a tip that our troops were going to be in harm's way. Just wouldn't be objective. What a puke.

I haven't read of this in any media but believe it is worth bringing up here on FR, to whit: today's (American) journalists think more in "global" terms than they do "national" (I've met some young American journalists). Many really do not believe that their loyalties lie with the United States but with "globalities" or "global interests". Thus they're able to report quasi-objectively on the Mexican Zapatistas and while at the same time portray the Mexican government in a sympathetic manner they simply cannot do that with the U.S. since the U.S. is the bully of the globe (in their "objective" opinion). I believe many of these people have been so brainwashed in journalism school they're no longer capable of knowing the truth of any issue but simply stamp out stories which reflect their ideology. If you accuse them of bias they'll deny it... "bias" is a word which does not apply, in their minds, when the story is a "U.S. versus (fill in the blank)". In their opinion the U.S. today is simply an evil empire, built by Anglo males and therefore a worthy target; they think of themselves as "global citizens", not American.

Though Mr. Limbaugh reported that Mr. Jennings had said, "Maybe it's wise that certain presidents just not try to address the people of the country," Mr. Jennings had actually made a general statement about presidents. "The country looks to the president on occasions like this to be reassuring to the nation," Mr. Jennings had said. "Some presidents do it well, some presidents don't."
A distinction without a difference.

FINALLY, the momentum of criticism of the media is building! They've tried to be the 4th branch of government too long. I am happy to see them floundering.....their arrogance is insufferable. Your 2 cents, as usual, is on the mark.

I emailed the NYT during the presidential campaign complaining about their leftward bias. They wrote me back saying the were INSULTED that I considered them biased and that they were objective!!!!!!!! So go ahead and write to them anyway. We know what they are about and they know we know. NYT was slammed by the Washington comPost recently for being too liberal, so everyone else knows too.
