I am having trouble keeping up, if the muslims who did this deed died and went to their Heaven for fighting their religions enemies, and if the Christians and Jews who were believers went to their Heaven because they were saved, WHY should anyone but the infidels who died not believing and unsaved be upset?

Another thing that is confusing me is it looks to me like the Bible, the Koran and Nostradamus's Quatranes are all open to vastly different interpretations. Look at the differences expressed here and in the recent discussions of Islam. I am really upset that God (take your pick which one) did this to mankind. Hey if I was in charge everything would be clearcut, and if you didn't listen or understand I would personally tell you more than once every few thousand years. I have a hard time understanding why any God would make you believe in him to reach paradise. What is the reasoning behind that? What you believe is pretty much a result of what you have read or been taught (unless of course you have heard voices directly from God, then you are probably a true believer!).

What happens to the people that believe in another God because they never heard of the modern religions? What about the Incas, Aztecs, Mayans, Ancient Egyptians, Native Americans, isolated aborigines etc? They didn't even have a chance to buy their lottery ticket to Heaven because most never heard the word.....where are their souls and is that a just ending?

Falwell had no problem with federal research funding on the embryonic stem-cells harvested from formally healthy live embryos. However, now he has the nerve to say that the USA was struck by terrorist because of abortion and gays? Falwell thinks he can be on both sides of this issue. What a fool he is.

What did Jerry Falwell say that was so awful?

IMO, he was blaming "them" for "their sins" while ignoring his own sinfulness. The author of this piece at least included worldly churches, but he still left alone the sins that people in his own congregation are likely committing, without hearing a word against them from the pulpit. How many people in his church are not feeding the hungry, cloting the naked, visiting the sick or in prison, sheltering the homeless? How many in his church watch worthless movies hoping to see a little skin? How many in his church gossip or otherwise use their tongues divisively? How many in his church are comfortable with that behavior because "Christians aren't perfect, just forgiven"?

OK, I'm not perfect either. The question isn't, "How many Christians are perfect." The question is, "How many Christians are humble and repentent over their sinfulness." When we get proud and say, "The only sins that will draw G-d's wrath are homosexuality and abortion and other things I never do," and ignore our personal sins then we are presumptuous beyond belief. It isn't the sins of those homosexuals or those abortionists or those perverts that would cause G-d to remove His hand of blesing.

It is my sin.

I have no right to point fingers at anyone else while there is a beam in my eye.

Shalom.

Falwell is arrogant. He dwells much on the wrath of God and punishment of the disobedient. He does this to his own detriment and does damage to the message of the Gospel of Christ. Instead of putting his accusing finger in the face of the gays, ACLU, abortion rights, and other organizations, he should be about preaching healing, Grace, Mercy, and Forgiveness. There is no balance with Falwell, which makes him an antagonist. He is too much salt with no love. The message from Falwell is judgement and with no mercy, a twisted view of God and Christ who came to redeem the world from sin.

I have always agreed with what Jerry Falwell said. God did raise his "pinky" and let us see what can happen to this great nation without His divine protection, which He has given us liberally over the years. There are times He has to do things He doesn't want to do in order for a greater good. People are beginning to turn back to God because of the September 11th atrocities. That's always His motive in all He does and allows to happen. Yes, the fanatic Islams did this horrid satanic deed. We can't blame God for that. But He did allow it to happen. I believe a great revival in this nation and in this world will be the result. People are frightened and don't know where to turn. He's the only one who CAN protect us. We need to pray, not tremble with fear over what the future holds. Remember, HE holds the future.

So let me get this straight.

God stops protecting innocent people from crazy Muslim Arabs because there are some queers?

Jerry Fallwell and Pat Robertson are both idiots. Your support speaks volumes.

So what do any of those (correct and good) quotes that praise morality and castigate immorality have to do with the ludicrous notion that God removed his protective hand? Nothing. There is a non-sequitor there, big time. No we don't expect this guy to apologize. He's got a good thing going and trying to make it bigger.

He said that the sins and wickedness of people in our nation are causing God to remove His hand of protection from our nation. He specifically mentioned homosexuals, lesbians, feminists, abortion and a few other sins.

I guess I am more than a little suspicious about people who claim to speak for God. To say that God decided to remove his hand of protection because certain corners of America have elements of extremism and condone perversion is making quite a statement. And it is not the kind of statement I would expect from people that claim to fervently believe in the teachings of Jesus Christ. Where Christ preached forgiveness and peace we get double barrel shotgun blasts from Falwell and Robertson who preach that the horrific murderous assault on America is God's retribution for sin. Instead of trying to heal the nation's wounds as men of the cloth these two apparently are more interested in ripping open the wounds even more for their own little perverse interests.

I would take Falwell, Robertson and their ilk a lot more seriously if they, like Christ, took a vow of poverty. Oh but that would require that they lead by example. Can't do that when there is so much money to be made in using Religion as a platform for political power and a instrument of intimidation for the masses. It is said that true character reveals itself during times of crisis. Take a look at GW and then look at Falwell and Robertson and ask yourself, which of these people have demonstrated true character in this trying time for America?

If God was going to punish America, he would have done it when we handed out blankets from smallpox victims to the Native Americans on the Trail of Tears.

Or he would have toasted us for hundreds of years of slavery...or then again, maybe not. Slavery is accepted in the Bible. Trying to make sense of fundie logic is pointless.

I have a feeling this PC world is just going to love the two prophets of Revealtion when they show up. Can you just imagine?

It is very hard for people who have been sleeping for generations to wake and ask "Where was God on 9-11?", no one feels that the people in that tower, just trying to raise families and do their jobs, deserved to have that protection removed from them. Where they bigger sinners than the rest of us? Was there really that much sin in their lives? Of course not, in fact, as in all horrible events, the best and most noble of human nature came out in the victims and the survivors. Satan is a ravening lion seeking who he can destroy, and the innocent bystander or helpless child is his favorite target, and he is more and more in charge here, just as scriptures said he would be.

My question is, why the sudden interest by unbelievers in God and why he "allowed" this to happen? Do they need someone to blame, or is 9-11 a good opportunity to vent their unbelief? We live in a world of free choice, and physics, three plane loads of morons chose to rip the controls from the pilots and crash their planes into the Towers and the Pentagon. It would be a very strange world if everyone about to be hit by a bus were jerked to safety by an unseen hand. We are subject to die in the next minute, all of us, no one is assured of their next breath.

This world is going to go the way the Bible says it will go, winding it's way to the end, the United States is not immune from attacks of evil, or maybe unbelievers think we are so good that it isn't fair to be exposed to horror, when it is their very unbelief that is the problem here, because Satan is more than happy to rush into any void and fill it. So everyone has a choice here, and there is no fence sitting allowed, fill that void with God, or Satan will fill it for you.

Thank you for your courageous post. (As always, the Christo-phobes so quickly scent blood).

As a Christian, I do not think "sins such as the homosexual and lesbian lifestyle, the home wrecking, God-denying, feminist movement, the millions of abortions performed annually, as well as the compromising, worldly churches" were the specific cause of the 9-11 attacks.

However, I understand Falwell's attempt to call people in this nation to repentance. Old Testament prophets used to do the exact same thing, with varying success, since man's heart is often closed to that which is true but undesired.

Best thing that we as a church can do now is pray. Never ceasing. :)

Psalm 5
"Give ear to my words, O LORD, consider my sighing.
Listen to my cry for help, my King and my God, for to you I pray.
In the morning, O LORD, you hear my voice; in the morning I lay my requests before you and wait in expectation.
You are not a God who takes pleasure in evil; with you the wicked cannot dwell.
The arrogant cannot stand in your presence; you hate all who do wrong.
You destroy those who tell lies; bloodthirsty and deceitful men the LORD abhors.
But I, by your great mercy, will come into your house; in reverence will I bow down toward your holy temple.
Lead me, O LORD, in your righteousness because of my enemies-- make straight your way before me.
Not a word from their mouth can be trusted; their heart is filled with destruction. Their throat is an open grave; with their tongue they speak deceit.
Declare them guilty, O God! Let their intrigues be their downfall. Banish them for their many sins, for they have rebelled against you.
But let all who take refuge in you be glad; let them ever sing for joy. Spread your protection over them, that those who love your name may rejoice in you.
For surely, O LORD, you bless the righteous; you surround them with your favor as with a shield."

Well..I certainly don't agree with homosexuality because it goes against the natural use of the body...BUT...it was the self-righteous hypocrites who were on the receiving end of Jesus's anger.

He specifically mentioned homosexuals, lesbians, feminists, abortion and a few other sins. This "horrible" statement brought the wrath of so-called "Christian" leaders, not to mention the White House, down upon him. That's it folks.

It is also true that there is time for everything. And Fallwell has chosen to say what he said at a bad time.
