Netanyahu: Terrorists Will Nuke New York (posted in 11/2001)

Former Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu warned Monday night that Mideast terrorists are determined to obtain nuclear weapons and when they do, they will use them on New York City.

"They're going to attack American again and again," Netanyahu told Fox News Channel's "Hannity & Colmes." And the great danger that we face is..... if they acquire nuclear weapons - if any part of this terror network acquires nuclear weapons, they will use it. And history as we know it will come to a pass."

In an exchange with Sean Hannity, the one-time Israeli chief said there is no doubt which city would be first on the terrorist nuke target list.

HANNITY: America needs to understand, if they get nuclear weapons they already have the willingness to use them. If we allow that to happen, if we don't win that race, (then) the world is a much more dangerous place for our children.

NETANYAHU: Not a more dangerous (world) -- they'll drop it in New York. They'll drop it right here -- right in the place where we sit.

"Hannity & Colmes" is telecast from FNC's Manhattan studios.

The USA and her western European allies have been in a relaxed state for very long. Much of society is built on the assumption of good will by all parties. The door is essentially open.. Let's pray that the genie fits back in its bottle.

Bring it on. Ladies first.

I'm sick and tired of waiting. They want to play rough. go ahead and start something. Maybe I'll be dead, but whoever is left will turn the Middle East into a glass asphalt parking lot. Bring it on. No more threats. Put up or surrender.

From neighborhood to town to city to county to state Americans should be uniting to prepare for all possibilities - such as the old "Civil Defense" type of preparations where communities put up supplies and find "bomb shelters" among buildings appropriate for such eventualities. Yes, even build bomb shelters. Russia has done this long ago. They are much better prepared for a nuclear event. We are not. But we can take action - along with uniting to defend our country - "every citizen is a soldier" - President Bush rightly said. Mobilize NOW, Americans. After the fact will be too late.

I can only hope others take this stuff no more seriously than I do.

1) If they have nuclear devices, why would they use them here instead of to protect themselves? They are going to wish they had a device when we get a bead on them.

2) There never was any warning to "those people," regardless of what anyone tells you. At least half of the twenty or so people I knew and lost at the Trade Centers were Jews, and I'm talking wealthy connected Jews, too. They are dead. Forget that.

3) New York Harbor is closed, now and for the immediate future.

4) A suitcase nuke could do a lot of damage to Manhattan, but barring the problem about getting one in here, which would be very risky due to the checkpoints, there is the issue of how much damage versus the retribution, which would be horrible.

Vigilance is key, but some of you are getting way off on a tangent.

Just ship something in a large container that goes to port in a major city.

I've heard disturbing statistics that say about 1 in 100 of these shipping containers is ever inspected (chosen at random). Someone who works around the docks in Houston said it's more like 1 in a thousand that is actually checked. The odds are in their favor.

I refuse to let fear of something that "might" happen rule my life. God is more than able to stop these people and prayer is the key to our safety, not our government or anyone else's government. We can trust no one. But we can trust God. He's already forewarned several of the intercessors in America regarding November 11th. You need to pray and put all in His hands. Nobody else can protect us.

Gee Thanks (F-You) RLK. I see the sympathy that was present after 9-11 is now gone and people’s normal prejudices have returned. I don't wish it upon anyone, but maybe they could get the town where you live and do us all a favor. There are many fine people in NY and just because we’re outnumbers doesn’t mean we deserve to be exterminated.

Small Nukes can be carried in trunks and even suitcases. It is a fact that the Soviets invented nukes like this.

I just read Dave Barry's novel, "Big Trouble", published in 1999. In a pre-911 world, it is an hysterical, mad-cap comedy about suitcase nukes. In a post-911 world, it is both an hysterical, mad-cap comedy and very chilling.

Has anyone ese read it?

How does this happen with the detect and destroy technology we have and use in this country? Did he attempt to explain that or is it just conveniently forgotten to psyche out the masses?

Unfortunately delivery is easy - as simple as a truck on Broadway or a ship in the Hudson.

I hear we have technology which can detect a bomb-sized lump of uranium or plutonium from a good distance (neutron beam).

No, we cannot detect a bomb that's properly sheilded--which isn't that hard.

This is a real, and actual, concern. A so called "suitcase nuke" will be on the order of something less than 2 KTON explosive force. WHile this is a dangerous weapon, it is not anything like the 15 KTON that we used at Hiroshima, or the 20 KTON that we used on Nagasaki. If a "suitcase" or Micro nuke were used, it would devistate a substantial portion of the city where it was used.

While I haven't any exact figures, it is wholly possible that Pakastan has weapons on the order of 700 to 1000 KTON. What ever the size, it doesn't matter. More people will die than died during both World War I and II combined.

During the ten year Vietnam War we lost 58,148 men or 5,8149 men per year. The 9-11 World Trade Center Bombimg killed more people on that one day than all the American Deaths during one year in Vietnam.

Thanks for your kind thoughts for those of us that live here and did not vote for either of those clymers. Your post clearly demonstrates that the population of idiots extends well beyond New York and Boston, and even crosses political affiliations.

I read it. It's really weird. Wasn't the movie release delayed/cancelled because of 9/11?

I believe in God as well, but your attitude is one laziness more than holiness. Get out and protest, call your congress people. DO SOMETHING. Don't just sit around and wait for God to save you. This not religion, it's APATHY that you are preaching.

I was not aware a movie was in the works. It might be one of the few Hollywood offerings I would actually pay to see.

If the Anti-American Arabs use the "bomb" on NYC what makes you think we will use a "bomb" on them? Where will we use it?

If the Al Queda network is going to get the bomb, they will aquire it through their KLA operation in Yugoslavia. This is where the only available (ex-USSR) nukes are. This is the only area where the terrorists are allowed to operate with impunity. In fact, they operate under NATO protection, FCOL! The KLA terrorists are a determined, well financed group, and are strongly tied to OBL. When they get the bomb (not if, but when), then Osama bin Laden has the bomb.

The question is, why do we support the KLA? Why are we protecting the very arm of Al Queda that is most likely to do us serious harm? When the KLA gets the bomb, it is going to make WTC look like a firecracker.

Don't think our KLA friends are tied to Al Queda? Check out today's Joseph Farah over at World Net Daily
