I was asleep
I do not get too excited watching 18 men being paid millions of dollars a year to chase a ball in taxpayer subsidized stadiums. Add to the fact that only a tiny percentage of the players actually grew up or lived in the city they are "playing for". But it is entrainment, to each his/her own.

????????????
What's a diamondback?

We watched it at home on our big screen and cheered ourselves silly! What a FANtastic show! As for McQueeg, luckily, I missed that because they didn't show it on national TV!! Maybe they figured he'd had enough face time on camera! Heh, heh!
And how 'bout that stealth bomber?!?!? Did you see or hear it coming?

Were you there to sing New York New York, or to take the phone call from Martin Sheen?

My wife and I watched with tears in our eyes. One of our friends was playing for the Diamondbacks. This was his first year with them and his 15 year in the majors. I think last night made up for all those years of losing in Chicago.

I watched. I missed McCain so it was a nice night. I had planned to root for the Yankees but found myself pulling for the D'backs from game one. As an Astros fan, I was pulling for Gonzales.
Don't be too hard on Clemens. Apparently for a ball-player, he's a workaholic and instilled that work-ethic in Schilling.
What I really enjoyed about the series was not being emotionally involved with either team and just enjoying it all. I only watch baseball during the World Series.
Congratulations! Haven't heard the morning news but assume people out there didn't burn the town down. When the Rockets won the basketball championship, not one car or building in Houston was burned. Not even one rock was thrown. I've never understood why "losers" who have nothing to do with anything, riot after a win they didn't contribute to.

Congratulations for being one of the lucky people on the planet. You got to watch a blowout and a nail-biter -- and your team won the series!
Gotta confess that I was rooting for Arizona, if only because the Yankees have had their share of glory. Time to let others bask. Besides, if the Yanks had won the focus would have been on how the team came back and drew inspiration from the events of Sept. 11 and blah blah blah. That may all be well and true -- but this is baseball. A game. An enjoyable pastime. No need to find the metaphysical.
Thanks to the Diamondbacks, and the Yankees, for putting on the best World Series in recent history! Bet Fox is gonna love them ratings ...

Congratulations to the Diamandbacks on a great series and their win. My team (Royals) was out of the race in May and there is no way I could ever pull for the Yankees.
The D'backs holding much of their celebration on the field so the fans could see it was kinda cool.

Hats off to the Diamondbacks, Phoenix, and the entire State of Arizona for their first ever professional sports championship.

How many people can fit into that stadium? 50,000? There will be at least 500,000 people claiming to be at that game before long. I know there are at least a million Bostonians who swear they were at Fenway Park at Game 6 of the 1975 World Series (when Carlton Fisk hit the 10th inning home run).

Being there...sounds unreal. Glad your team could do what the Red Sox can't.
Randy Johnson...UNBELIEVABLE. He figured it out, stared them down, and did it. It was magical, even on TV.

That was a great series and a great game last night. The only thing I'm wondering though is why the Yankees didn't put the infield back in double play depth after the bases were loaded. If they did that, then I have to think that the game winning hit would have been caught and since it was so short they couldn't have scored on a sacrifice.

An AP report this morning says that a team from Afghanistan, the "Taliban Towelheads", has challenged the Diamondbacks to a best of 7 series to be played in their new Taliban "Crater Stadium" where Kabul used to be.
The "Towelheads" mascot, "Camel Dung" and the Diamondback's "Rattler" will face off in a battle to the death prior to Game One. The odds-makers in Vegas have the Rattler as a "Lock".
Fans can order their tickets through "CaveMaster" but are urged to carefully inspect any tickets received through the mail.
B-52's are scheduled to drop "fireworks" after each Diamondback homerun. President George W. Bush will throw out the ceremonial first pitch which will be attached to a Cruise Missile.
