American helicopter gunships have reportedly attacked Taliban military positions near the Afghan capital, Kabul.
The Afghan Islamic Press agency reported helicopter assaults on Taliban installations and residential areas north of the city, while US jets also attacked several locations around Kabul and the frontline to the north.
The US has also attacked Kandahar and Mazar-e-Sharif and the Bakhtar News Agency said 10 people were killed and 15 injured in a village south of Mazar-e-Sharif.
It also said five people were killed and seven wounded in an attack in Kandahar.

If we attacked Kabul with helicopter gunships, which have a limited comabt radius, WHICH IS PUBLIC KNOWLEDGE, then you can figure out that we have a ground presence in Afghanistan to field and support those gunships.
We ARE bringing this battle to them.

Get some O-Ratta....Get some!

Without going into specifics. It can be done without a ground presence. We were doing it 12-13 years ago when I retired.

Exactly!! Why type of birds these were tells us more information then is being told to us. Unless these where MH-60s which can be mid-air refueled and can carry aramament pods, but are not commonly found in that role. AH-64 is not mid-air refuel capable, but can be refueled by a FARP, which means an area inside the local AO.

Bin Laden has brought so much peace and happiness to the Talibans. Let's wash their streets with their filthy blood.

To me....helicopter warfare means that we are very confident that the Taliban have no capacity to shoot them out of the sky. I am sure we are bing careful, but there is no way we would have used helicopters in warfare a month ago. Our confidence is gaining!
