Keyes Declares Abortion As Another Form of Terrorism
The Dominion Post ^ | 11/4/01 | James W. Pindell

Alan Keyes, the two-time former U.S. presidential candidate, accused President Bush of being inconsistent in his views toward human life Thursday night.

Keyes told reporters that Bush's stance on nations that support terrorism should also be applied to nations that support abortion groups.

"The violation on innocent human life is the same whether you commit terrorism or commit abortion," Keyes said before addressing a West Virginians for Life fund-raiser in Morgantown.

Keyes remarked further on Bush.

"The same president that seems to defend human life now was the same president that two weeks prior to the bombing announced his support for federally funded stem cell research," Keyes said.

While President Bush actually announced his backing for limited funding of stem cell research Aug. 9, a full month before the attacks, this decision angered many pro-life supporters. For them, taking stem cells extracted from human embryos was capitalizing on abortion, which they consider equivalent to murder.

More than 300 people paid $50 for dinner and the chance to hear Keyes. Guests also received roses to wear at the dinner that were supposed to symbolize life.

Last year, syndicated columnist Cal Thomas was the keynote speaker.

"This is the major fund-raiser for our education component," Karen Cross, executive director for West Virginians for Life, said.

Morgantown is home to both the West Virginians for Life headquarters and the National Right to Life Committee president, Wanda Franz.

"West Virginia has a population that deeply cares about abortion and protecting human life," said Franz, a WVU professor in child development.

Charlotte Snead, president of West Virginians for Life, tried to tie the group's cause with America's war on terrorism.

"The brave souls on Flight 93 over Pennsylvania set a great example for us. They gave all they could to protect other human life." Snead said. "But we fight not with weapons, but with words."

Keyes said the pro-life argument must play an important role in America's new war.

"We saw in Vietnam that our country's moral consciousness is critical to our national security," Keyes said. "In times like these, the voice of human sanctity must be heard."

That might be a little difficult Alan, as sadly, this country is foremeost among those countries which do this.

Keyes is on the right track though. We've offed over 30 million ourselves since Roe v Wade. Do we imagine that those millions of unborn are somehow less precious in the sight of the Lord than the 5,000 or so who lost their lives on 9/11?

Alan Keyes, once a fine patriot and Republican, seems to be on a "BASH BUSH" rampage!!! He needs to shut up and joint the USA Patriotism parade. Can't he say anything positive about this administration?

I used to like Keyes. Anyone know what that medallion (big as a hub cap) thing is he wears around his neck sometimes?

A realist and a leader, both attributes that Alan Keyes lacks, despite his beautifully crafted speeches delivered with passion and his newspaper columns. It's a shame Keyes doesn't have the maturity to accept President Bush for the good man and valuable leader he clearly is, but instead, Keyes looks for something, anything to snipe at. Tedious and eventually, self-defeating.

More Bush Sniping. What a waste of once good energy, what a shame that a man who would have been a wonderful American leader has lowered himself to this level.

He does do a good stand-up in front of a conservative audience. He knows what to say to those folks to get their attention

Here's more continuation of his good stand-up acts.

BS.

While the rest of the country sits glued to Fox watching the war on terror and the latest anthrax scare, the liberals are successfully and radidly advancing the pro-abortion, pro-homosexual agenda right under Bush's nose.

It ain't no excuse to say, "See no evil, hear no evil, speak no evil," just because there is terrorism afoot.

Domestic terrorism, the kind that muders the innocent in the womb, is a battlefront conservatives have neglected because of the battle against international terrorism.

Domestic abortion terrorists are not relaxing their war effort.

Neither should pro-lifers.

Keyes is 100% right on the mark.

You folks who worship Bush's every move need to open your eyes and acknowledge that he has abrogated his responsibility to wage the fight on both fronts.

Yes, Bush is doing an excellent job in the war on international terror.

That does not give him immunity from criticism when he fails to fight other battles just as urgent, even if the liberal press does not deem them so.

Ignoring Dr. Keyes for the minute, the following is typical of the confusion which hallmarks the campaign to end abortion on demand:

While President Bush actually announced his backing for limited funding of stem cell research Aug. 9, a full month before the attacks, this decision angered many pro-life supporters. For them, taking stem cells extracted from human embryos was capitalizing on abortion, which they consider equivalent to murder.

These who are espousing equivalencies ought to get their act together ... fetal tissue harvesting is decades old! Their protestations have a hollow ring when compared to the facts and the actual ruling by the White House regarding no funding for killing more embryos. The private sector will do it anyway, which is why the noise from such as these mentioned is hollow ... you will not find them picketing outside Geron Labs. Ahem!
