OUR OWN MR. B. NEEDS OUR HELP TO RUN FOR CALIF. STATE ASSEMBLY!!
e-mail | John W. Brantuk, Sr.

Posted on 11/04/2001 10:54:48 AM PST by Mercuria

To My Dear Friends and Supporters,

I am writing you today regarding two very serious items:

1. To announce that I am running for the California State Assembly, District 56;

2. To let you know that I urgently need your help in this endeavor today.

Please read on . . .

Due to the combination of redistricting and term limits, there is no incumbent running for reelection in the 56th Assembly District. This resulting open seat is a wonderful opportunity for us to really make a difference in our State Government. As of this writing, there are only 2 major party candidates running for this seat; a Liberal Democrat, and me, a dedicated Conservative Constitutional Republican.

There is one pressing problem, however. We must raise the funds to pay the exorbitant filing fees (approximately $1000) required by the State of California in order to qualify for the ballot by the beginning of the coming week, as well as many other miscellaneous expenses. As I write this, we are far short of the goal.

Please note that no other Conservative Republican has stepped up to run for this open seat, and if we do not raise the funds necessary to secure my place on the ballot, we may well find ourselves in the untenable position of having a liberal Democrat running virtually unopposed for this seat. We must not allow that to happen!

Many of you have encouraged me to run for this office; I ask you now to please help make that possible by sending the largest contribution you possibly can today.

Please make your checks out to:

"Brantuk for Assembly" or "John W. Brantuk" (whichever is easier)

and mail them today, or as soon as possible to:

Brantuk for Assembly
P.O. Box 171
Whittier, CA 90608

If you'd like to make a donation immediately from your checking account or your credit card, you can also click on the following link and make it now using PayPal:

Contribute via PayPal

One last note: Please be aware that once elected it is likely that I will serve only one term in the Assembly. My actions in office will not be colored by thoughts of reelection, but only by doing what is right and what truly upholds the Constitution.

My purpose in office will not be to make friends; my purpose will be to make a positive difference, no matter who's feathers I ruffle.

Thank you for your support. I value it more that I can express.

Best regards,

John W. Brantuk, Sr.
Candidate for Assembly, 56th District
Current Chairman, 58th Assembly District Republican Central Committee
Member, California Republican Party
Phone: (562) 698-2870
Fax: (562) 698-2810

P.S. Whether or not you are in a position to make a donation today, please forward this request on to others who may be able to help. We must raise the necessary funds quickly.

Time is of the essence.

Again, I sincerely thank you.

Having problems with PayPal. May have to use snail mail.

Here is an article from Phyllis Schlafly that you might be interested in.

The policy of opening our borders to anyone who wants to sneak into our country illegally -- or to remain illegally after entering legally -- must be exposed and terminated. This is the most important security precaution our government must take.

I'm not in CA but I'd like to support you Mr. B. However, I have what hopefully will be a minor concern: since you want to serve only one term are you sure you will be able to forward that agenda in that one term? Would it not be better to leave re-election options open?

First, please accept my apology for not making myself totally clear. You are not the first person to raise this question about why I'm "only seeking to serve for one term."

Actually, what I meant to say is that I will go to Sacramento with the firm intent of making a real change.
I am not going there to make "friends,"
nor to set up a permanent fund-raising organization,
nor to organize a permanent campaign,
nor to make back-room deals with career politicians to extend my political career at the expense of the citizens who help elect me.

In other words, I will be such a thorn in the side of the career politicians, in my efforts to make honest, substantive changes, that I do not think that the career politicians are going to do anything to help reelect me.

I will continue to serve as along as I am effective and the ordinary citizens want me to serve, regardless of what the career politicans think.

I hope that clears up my position a little, but please feel free to question me about anything which I may have not yet addressed.

Best regards,
John

Dear Brownie74,

Thank you for your support. We are aware that (for some unknown reason) the PayPal link does not work properly for everyone.

Whether you send in a contribution via PayPal or via snailmail, it is sincerely appreciated.

We are nearing our goal which we need to reach by Wednesday, and anything which arrives later than that will immediately be put to use to get out our message.

Let me assure you all, this IS a serious campaign, and since we're aware of how strongly Freepers love and support our country and the freedoms it ( supposedly) respects, by all pulling together we are confidently expecting victory and making real, substantive changes in the direction of this state, and eventually, the entire country.

Some can give a little, some can give a lot, but "many hands make for light work," so please continue to spread the message so that we can not only make the deadline for the official filing, but also put into operation the plans we have for a MAJOR campaign blitz.

Again, my most sincere thank you for all of your donations, help, and support.

Together we WILL make a MAJOR difference.

Let's Roll!!!!

Dear Merc and all,

Just an update to let you know that, little by little, we are closing in on our first hurdle of getting the filing fee covered.

Every contribution, small or large, to the campaign is sincerely appreciated, and will not go to waste.

I'd like to encourage everyone who can contribute to do so as soon as possible, so that we can put the campaign into high gear, and show California and the nation that freedom is still important, and that Freepers are a force to be rekoned with!

For Freedom,
John W. Brantuk, Sr.
