OUR OWN MR. B. NEEDS OUR HELP TO RUN FOR CALIF. STATE ASSEMBLY!!
e-mail | John W. Brantuk, Sr.

Posted on 11/04/2001 10:54:48 AM PST by Mercuria

To My Dear Friends and Supporters,

I am writing you today regarding two very serious items:

1. To announce that I am running for the California State Assembly, District 56;

2. To let you know that I urgently need your help in this endeavor today.

Please read on . . .

Due to the combination of redistricting and term limits, there is no incumbent running for reelection in the 56th Assembly District. This resulting open seat is a wonderful opportunity for us to really make a difference in our State Government. As of this writing, there are only 2 major party candidates running for this seat; a Liberal Democrat, and me, a dedicated Conservative Constitutional Republican.

There is one pressing problem, however. We must raise the funds to pay the exorbitant filing fees (approximately $1000) required by the State of California in order to qualify for the ballot by the beginning of the coming week, as well as many other miscellaneous expenses. As I write this, we are far short of the goal.

Please note that no other Conservative Republican has stepped up to run for this open seat, and if we do not raise the funds necessary to secure my place on the ballot, we may well find ourselves in the untenable position of having a liberal Democrat running virtually unopposed for this seat. We must not allow that to happen!

Many of you have encouraged me to run for this office; I ask you now to please help make that possible by sending the largest contribution you possibly can today.

Please make your checks out to:

"Brantuk for Assembly" or "John W. Brantuk" (whichever is easier)

and mail them today, or as soon as possible to:

Brantuk for Assembly
P.O. Box 171
Whittier, CA 90608

If you'd like to make a donation immediately from your checking account or your credit card, you can also click on the following link and make it now using PayPal:

Contribute via PayPal

One last note: Please be aware that once elected it is likely that I will serve only one term in the Assembly. My actions in office will not be colored by thoughts of reelection, but only by doing what is right and what truly upholds the Constitution.

My purpose in office will not be to make friends; my purpose will be to make a positive difference, no matter who's feathers I ruffle.

Thank you for your support. I value it more that I can express.

Best regards,

John W. Brantuk, Sr.
Candidate for Assembly, 56th District
Current Chairman, 58th Assembly District Republican Central Committee
Member, California Republican Party
Phone: (562) 698-2870
Fax: (562) 698-2810

P.S. Whether or not you are in a position to make a donation today, please forward this request on to others who may be able to help. We must raise the necessary funds quickly.

Time is of the essence.

Again, I sincerely thank you.

The things I know of Whittier is that there are many conservatives there. Its basically a bedroom community about 25 miles south east of LA and homes in the area range from middle income to multi-million dollar view homes in the Whittier hills.

From what I know of Whittier, it remains one of the nicer areas in the Southern California area.

I wish Mr. John W. Brantuk, Sr good luck.

We have to assume that since this was a Democrat seat, and the Democrats drew up the 'new' district based on the 2000 Census that they incorporated enough of Santa Fe Springs and Cerritos to make the 'voter' demographic 55%+ registered Democrats. We must start with the premise a win for John will be an 'upset'.

I, for one, have always enjoyed a 'winnable' challenge. How to get the 'conservative' message to be understood and to resonate with the majority '21st century American' community of the 56th District will be all important to John's success, IMHO.

The 56th District Map

Nice 'carve out' by the Democrats, don't you think?

'Gerry-mandering' districts, the 'mother's milk' of political power.

Just a clarification - the jwb2 link is to my son's home page. He created it a few years ago, and I don't think it has been updated in quite a while.

"JWB2" (John W. Brantuk, II) is currently in his 3rd year at the United States Air Force Academy - another year and a half and he will receive his commission as a 2nd Lt. in the Air Force, and he's hoping to go on to flight school - he is hoping to get assigned to F-15's!

I am VERY proud of him!

By the way, the picture you see of my son at JWB2 is the picture of a boy - he is now truly a MAN.

I want you all to know that with MEN like my son and the other cadets at the Academy that we have been priviledged to get to know, our country's future is in VERY good hands!

"Just a clarification - the jwb2 link is to my son's home page."

Got it, thanks. It was his 'thank you' page that provided the 'link' back to you. You get the 'freepmail'?

I, too, am proud of my 3 daughters; and very humbled that the Lord blessed my wife and I with them. It takes a lot of courage to give children over to the care of members of the VRWC, don't you think?

Incumbency - the ultimate community of interest. And they won out, especially for the Democrats, with the willing accomplices of our Republicans in the Assembly and Senate.

'Gerry-mandering' districts, the 'mother's milk' of political power.

You're exactly right. That is why it is so important to control the state houses.

If Mr. B. is that constitutional, he should be getting the nod from the most constitutional (some would say conservative) of all California Republican organizations - United Republicans of California ("UROC") - hard-core, grass roots, AND organized outside the Republican Party. UROC got Barry Goldwater on the 1964 California ballot over Nelson Rockefeller. It is, unfortunately, too late for him to be getting any nod from UROC before the primaries as they just had their Fall Convention on 10/19. However, I know a few people who might feel inclined to support Mr. B in more ways than one...

More info, other links???

Peter Ford, co-president of UROC

"In 1995 Peter ran for a non partisan elected office to become a member of the Los Angeles Unified School District. He did not win, but he received over 10,000 votes.

His interest in education drove him again, to become a candidate, as Trustee of the L. A. Community College District - Office #1. The election was in April 1999. He was not successful, but he garnered over 30,000 votes. The outcome of these two efforts sparked considerable interest by many people who have encouraged Peter to seek a partisan political office in the future.

Peter is retired, but remains active in many endeavors. In October 1999 Peter was elected as California co-president of UROC (United Republicans of California)...."
