FReeper Vetnet Does It ! --- The Ballad of Mike Moran Is Awesome !
DOUG FROM UPLAND | 10-03-01 | dfu

Posted on 11/03/2001 5:52:12 PM PST by doug from upland

It all started innocently enough. After hearing Mike Moran tell Osama bin Laden he could kiss his royal Irish ass, I sat in front of the keyboard and did what I've done over 1100 times ---- whipped out a little song. The tune was a great Irish tune - WEARIN' O THE GREEN.

Vetnet has lurked for a few years and decided it was time to participate. He contacted me to let me know a producer was interested, maybe two producers. He made wonderful suggestions as we went through a re-write together on the phone. He did it all from there. He got together the singers, the engineer, and the studio. They recorded on Thursday, did some mixing on Friday, and I met him as he handed me a CD and tape today.

It was beyond all my expectations. The singers in Irish brogue were marvelous. Ladies and gentlemen, this is going to raise money for the rescue workers. With your help calling into radio stations and making requests, it could become the anthem of this war.

Vetnet, way to go, my new FReeper friend.

Despite the fact that the midi does not seem in sync a couple of times, in the studio it worked perfectly. "You'll pay the price" gets sqeezed in nicely, and "I'll" gets stretched out.

Mike Moran -- royal IA -- I'll send you FReepmail with my phone number if you want to hear it.

MIDI - WEARIN' O THE GREEN

I am Irish and was proud to serve with other firemen
Who gave their lives for us that day, each one of them a friend
In remembrance of my brothers who from earthly bonds did pass
Osama, step right up and kiss my royal Irish ass

They’re the bravest men I’ve known…and I'll miss them everyday
I will keep them in my heart so they're never far away
In remembrance of my brothers who from earthly bonds did pass
Osama, step right up and kiss my royal Irish ass
You'll pay the price, but first you’ll kiss my royal Irish ass

Never thinking of their safety, only saving other lives
They never made it home to see their daughters, sons, or wives
In remembrance of my brothers who from earthly bonds did pass
Osama, step right up and kiss my royal Irish ass

They’re the bravest men I’ve known…and I'll miss them everyday
I will keep them in my heart so they're never far away
In remembrance of my brothers who from earthly bonds did pass
Osama, step right up and kiss my royal Irish ass
You'll pay the price, but first you’ll kiss my royal Irish ass

Try to take our freedom and you've made a big mistake
The spirit of America you're never going to break
In remembrance of my brothers who from earthly bonds did pass
Osama, step right up and kiss my royal Irish ass

They’re the bravest men I’ve known…and I'll miss them everyday
I will keep them in my heart so they're never far away
In remembrance of my brothers who from earthly bonds did pass
Osama, step right up and kiss my royal Irish ass
You'll pay the price, but first you’ll kiss my royal Irish ass

Why don't they just compress it into an MP3 format file and put it up on MP3.com

I'm set up to meet someone other than Drudge, but I don't know who'll give it the first airtime. I will ship an overnight to Sean Hannity's producer on Monday, but there's no telling who'll ever break a song on the airwaves.

Let's start a Freeper pool...LOL

Absolutely you get a copy for the show. I have actually given some thought to going to that Irish pub we went to in L.A. and having them play it there. Any FReepers up for that adventure?

It may go MP3. The problem is that we truly want this to raise money for the rescue workers and families.

I don't think we'll have to wait for Veteran's Day. We will hear it played within the next few days. I am sure that several at KABC will play it right away.

To: TLBSHOW

to BCM -FIL I am BCM 's little brother . I want to thank John's father in law for driving cross country to be with his daughter and my family in this our hour of need. I had the pleasure of telling the country how I felt. And I must admit I have been lurking and reading your kind comments. THANKS. And finally I want to thank all you freepers for the good times my Brother shared with you. If I tried John later in the evening and and the phone was busy , I knew he was with you. I had the pleasure of meeting many of you when John and I went to the impeach clinton rally.[ twice]. Got to shake Bob Barr's hand and have my picture taken with Anne Coulter. P.S. To Badjoe ; Thanks for the kind gift to John's wife and the many posts you sent me. GOD BLESS

My first name is mike . I have been a fireman for over 16 years. And was a police officer for a little less than 2 years before that. I was introduced to free republic by my brother John . He perished in the World trade center attack, and so was one of the first soldiers to fall in the war against terrorism . I never posted before 10 /28/ 2001 . I was glad to lurk and be directed to certain threads by John .I felt he would want me to pick up where he left off. Maybe I can do him Justice. " If ye love wealth greater than liberty, the tranquility of servitude greater than the animating contest for freedom, go home from us in peace. We seek not your council, nor your arms. Crouch down and lick the hand that feeds you.May your chains set lightly upon you; and may posterity forget ye were our countrymen." ~ SAMUAL ADAMS
(yours truly Mike Moran)

Hey Doug,

Since most of the singers who performed on this song have worked together before on some of our National Veterans Chamber of Commerce projects, we decided to call our little singing group, "The Chamber-Made Brigade"

Isn't that just a hoot?

It's a great name. Tell them to make plans for the Leno show next week. (Just dreaming). Under no circumstances will this song be done on Katie Couric's show.
