An event of world-historical potential is under way in one of the largest and most powerful countries of the Middle East, yet almost no one seems to have noticed. Ever since the night of Oct. 12, the citizens of Iran have repeatedly demonstrated against the murderous Shiite theocracy that has oppressed them for the past 22 years. The most recent demonstrations started Oct. 24 and ran for four successive nights in Tehran and other major cities.

This is a very interesting article. It has certainly not been widely reported in the press, if accurate. Maybe once the people in these countries realize that there is hope to throw off the despots who rule them, they will rise up against their oppressors.

The USA can provide that hope and help create a more stable world as we rid the Middle East of the harborers of terrorists.

Abraham Lincoln once explained why it was a moral imperative to free the slaves. He said that as long as one man was not free all of us could become slaves. America because of God's blessing has a duty to the world to help people throw off the yoke of tyranny.

"On Oct. 21, fearing new outbursts, the government apparently ordered the national team to throw its match against Bahrain, a no-account team. But when Iran lost 3-1, new riots ensued."

Typical governmental thinking: "OK, they rioted after winning the soccer game. We'll be safe, if we lose the soccer game." Of course, losing to a no-account Bahrain team, just enraged people further.

NO DEALS with Mullahs!

It certainly is an interesting article. I can remember going to college(back in the late 70's and early 80's) with several Iranians, and while I can't claim close acquaintance with any, they struck me as pretty decent people, and certainly not the type to support a murderous bunch of thugs like the ones in power there now. Maybe the page is finally turning.

"You can bring a horse to water, but you can't make him drink."

The USA can help bring parts of the Middle East towards Freedom, but they've got to want it in their very bones-- we can't make them want it.

The Very Good News: Maybe in some countries they are now thirsty enough to drink from the fountain of Freedom.

Good article to post. Also a similar article was posted about one or two weeks ago.

I am certainly no expert on foreign affairs but it is hard to see how this not good news for us.

It seems these people want to join the current century. Which means to embrace the west and reject Islam. For the people of the Islamic countries to rise up and pursue thier own bests interests is completely in our interest.

Once we are victorious in war we must become more aggressive in exporting our culture and thus our values all over the world. It is not only good business but the smart thing to do. Once exposed to American culture and life style it is difficult for any people to be led as far astray as the Imans have led the more backward Islamic folks.

Tom Clancy predicted this on too in "Executive Orders," I think.

Let's hope that this Iranian uprising goes the way of the Eastern Block and doesn't end up a false dawn like Tienamein Square. I still think China would be democratic today, if the US government would have given its support to the students peaceful protests. We let down liberty on that sad day. I hope we never do that again.

--I knew it because I get my news largely from the internet--maybe if the Foggy Bottom types in the State Dep't would get off the black tie party circuit and find out about the real world it would help.

The late Shah of Iran; his son, Reza Pahlavi.

"Since the establishment of the clerical regime in Iran, and the passing of his father, the late Shah of Iran, Reza Pahlavi has been a leading and vocal advocate of the principles of freedom, democracy and human rights for his countrymen.

In 1978, Reza Pahlavi, then Crown Prince of Iran, left his homeland to complete his higher education in the United States. An accomplished jet fighter pilot, Reza Pahlavi completed the United States Air Force Training Program at the former Reese Air Force Base in Lubbock, Texas. He is a Political Science graduate of the University of Southern California.

Reza Pahlavi has lived in Morocco, Egypt and, since 1984, the United States. He is married to Yasmine Etemad Amini who is a graduate of George Washington University School of Law. Together with his wife, Yasmine and two daughters, Noor (9) and Iman (8), they reside in the state of Maryland.

Born on October 31, 1960, in Tehran, Iran, Reza Pahlavi is the eldest of four."

The fundamentalist Mullah's are about to be overrun by the masses and it is ironic that the same tactics are being used against them that they use to overthrow secular governments.

Like Liberals, they too are about to be defeated by employing their tactics. Boycotts, demonstrations and the like.

I was in Iran when the revolution took place in '79 and its frightening to see tens of thousands of people rampaging thru the streets. Even the armed police and military get spooked and withdraw.

If this keeps up I look for a change in government in that country shortly after the first of the year.

Be very afraid Mullahs, because this people will deal with you just like you dealt with them after your revolution. You will be purged by the hundreds by beheading and hanging.

When you start hearing of the head government people leaving Iran and seeking political assylem in Europe, then the end is near. They are probably at the stage where they don't know whether or not they can trust their military. When the military become involved, they almost always side with the people.

Sounds great to me. Maybe we can help them work up a Constitution. If we could get our Liberal Dems to help them write one, maybe they would finally understand what our Constitution says.
