I can't be sorry for the openness our society had before 9/11. I sure am. People like Pat Buchanan have been warning us for years about the risks this country faced if it insisted on maintaining this "open" society that you are so proud of. I've never been a big Buchanan supporter, but I'm humble enough to admit that in this case he is 100% correct.

We could at least pretend, before 9/11, that we welcomed the poor and huddled masses, yearning to breathe free. Then they came in through the light and through the golden door and killed that aspect of our country when they used it to kill thousands of us.
