This is a video from the guys at Accurate Reloading. You can see an end view of the hole in the wall he's shooting into on their front page.

Accurate Reloading is a bunch of gun guys with way too much money and spare time who do all sorts of strange, weird, and fascinating things you wish you could do.

Anyone who visits their lab has to shoot their 577 Nitro Express Tyrannosaur, which is what this poor unfortunate is doing.

The Nitro Express calibers were originally designed for use in British double rifles for hunting dangerous game, up to and including elephants. They have huge bullets (up to .700 caliber, the size of a 12-gauge slug) and medium black-powder case capacities; the objective is to kill with heavy-and-slow bullet mass, since the hinge action of a double rifle can't withstand the intense pressures required for high velocities.

But the guys at Accurate Reloading built a bolt-action rifle that they chambered for the 577 Tyrannosaur. Bolt actions are much, much stronger than hinge actions, so they hand-load the cartridges with modern smokeless powder instead of black powder (you'll notice that when the guy in the video fires, the gun does not belch a choking cloud of white smoke) to make them much, much hotter. The gun isn't really much use for any real-world objective, for a number of reasons, but it does kick like a mule in the lab, and it's fun to videotape newbies shooting it.

I can't say anything about Arabs in general based on the guy shown shooting it, both because I think he's an Indian and because there are other videos on their web site of Americans shooting it with almost exactly the same result.

But yes, it is pretty funny. (Incidentally, the last four words he says in the video are, "Window's broke! Window's broke!" They are English, although accented.)

You watched the whole thing? I can't imagine how bad you felt, knowing how bad I felt after only watching part of it.

Ah, The Hat. I remember when Laz posted it on an AYBABTU thread. That was a lifetime ago.

Here's the Webmaster describing a different incident with the Tyrannosaur:

We might not live in a democratic country, but we are most definitely are democratic in our behavior towards each other. We really have no choice, as this crew consists of many different nationalities, different religions, different creeds, different colours, different sizes ? especially in the brains. One of our doctor friends mentioned a while back that he could probably fit the combined brain power of this whole team in a 22 Hornet case! That was not very kind of him, of course, as all we did was try to get him to practice with our 577 Tyrannosaur for his upcoming hunting trip to Africa. All he did was dislocated his thumb, bruised his shoulder and his nose looked a bit off center, not to mention the pint or so of blood that came pouring out of his mouth after he fired our rifle. We even offered to lend him the rifle to take hunting with him, and provide him with all the ammo he might need, all free of charge. But I am afraid all our efforts came to nothing. He decided it might be better for him to stick to playing golf. We then offered to make him a custom made gold club, as he mentioned that his handicap was improving quite well, until he fired our rifle, and then it started getting worse. Apparently his golfing partners are making quite a few snide remarks about his game now. He declined our offer, but I will not mention his exact words of what he thought we should do with our golf club, as this is a family oriented site.

I wish. No, I'm afraid that when I'm in need of recoil therapy there's not much available for me but to repair to my local public rifle range--and that only 100yd long. I also have no really big guns; my Rifle Caliber is 308Win, so the hardest-kicking gun I have is probably a featherweight Marlin M95 bolt-action shotgun. Shoot three-inch magnum slugs from that girl and she'll thump ya, yessiree Bob! But I'm sure she doesn't hold a candle to the Tyrannosaur.
