Mike Gallagher about to fight with Rosie O'Donnell!
Mike Gallagher show--various radio stations ^ | November 2, 2001 | self

Mike Gallagher and Dennis Prager listeners:

Apparently Mike is in some kind of feud with Rosie O'Donnell; he claimed she sat while the President threw out the ceremonial pitch (an amazing perfect strike!!). From what I gather, she was talking to Dennis Prager, and denied it. Prager apologized to Rosie on behalf of Mike. But Mike has proof, apparently some video, of Rosie sitting on her rear while everyone else was standing.

I can only listen to about 15 minutes of Mike, max. He replaced Hugh Hewitt in the morning slot in Denver. So, we went from outstanding conservative analysis, commentary and guests to a blowhard. One day he ranted on about airline pilots, claiming they're wimps. I never could divine any logical thread to what he was saying. He was embarrassing on O'Reilly the other night, claiming the President shouldn't throw out the first pitch at Yankee stadium. I've gone back to the morning station with news and happy talk. At least I get the traffic report and weather.

I enjoy humor no less than the next person. But to try to insinuate that this was "just a little humor" is incorrect in MHO. People were salivating!! Gallagher obviously needed material. Sad!! When someone is "supporting" the President, you don't slap them in the face. There is a HUGE difference in humor, and then humor at the "expense" of another persons feelings. I for one think to find humor at making fun of someones eating habits or body shape or even sexual preferences is ignorance in its highest form. I may not agree with other peoples lifestyles, but I wouldn't make jokes about body size or scars, or hair etc. I grew up in an era where that was considered HIGHLY innapropriate. I think it still is. If your from a younger generation who doesn't know that this kind of social moralism existed, then may I suggest you promote it? Trust me, when I say the world was a better place when we considered the feelings of others, and thought it wasn't right to make fun of certain aspects of peoples bodies and life.

As to the HTML, JimRob told us that our previous name had codes in it that due to a new format they were using, stopped us from being able to see who responded to our posts (they didn't show up on self search any longer). I will add spaces, but here is what our most recent name was:

Vets _ Husband _ & _ Wife

When people responded to us, due to a new program that JimRob had installed, it would respond to (again spaces as it won't come out right) Vets _ Husband _ &;amp _ Wife.

So, John suggested the changes we now have in our name, and we thought the change was fine. It was a "new programming" glitch, that will have affected a few names like ours.

Before that, I was FemaleVet on this forum. When we moved back to California from Oklahoma, we found we couldn't sign in. I think it had something to do with the e-mail addy we used to use. JimRob recently told me I could have that name back.. but we chose to keep this one.

FRgards!

Thank you proud American!!! (Love your name!! :o)

I really appreciate you comments. I will share them with my family. I have to say my heart is in my throat regarding our troops right now. They are in our prayers every single day!! I know they are in yours too. We talk to quite a few active duty, especially when we go out to the base here. There is such a difference in Espre' D' Cour serving under this President. We are so grateful that they are serving under a President that they respect and love.

Again, thanks for your comments, and for understanding mine,...God Bless!!

"...she was clearly videotaping and also had one of her kids on her lap. Don't know if this is an excuse, but could explain things."

How did SHE get a video camera past the security? Doesn't MLB have 'rules' about 'express written consent' of MLB and the New York Yankees?

And, why did she say she was 'standing' DURING the first pitch, when she obviously wasn't. It may have been her 'intent' to be standing, but because of the camera and her son, in reality she wasn't. POST MODERN TRUTH--what you want it to be.

"Does anybody really give a $hit about any of this?"

It is important, knowing the 'magnitude' of Mike Gallagher and Rosie O'Donnell, that the 'truth' be spoken, and that the LIAR be held to account and apologize, IMHO. {;~)

Hi,
Thank you--there was an FR thread, posted by jpthomas, you may not have seen that I think you would like, it brought tears to my eyes. It talks about how much the President respects the troops, and how much they respect him (thank God he's there now). I don't know how to export an html link so I'll just copy it here, although I know it's off topic of Mike Gallagher. Here goes:

A Presidential Salute
Government
Source: White House web site and e-mail

This is a small, but true story to give you an idea of the kind of man and the kind of woman we have in the White House right now.
As you may know, the President and Mrs. Bush visited the Washington Burn Center on Thursday 13 September. Among those they visited was TLC Brian Bridewell, who was badly burned in the Pentagon attack. Mrs. Bush went into Brian's room, spoke to him for about a minute, all the time as if they had been life-long acquaintances. She then turned to Brian's wife Mel who at this time had been at the hospital for probably 2-1/2 days, and apparently, according to Mel herself, was dirty, grimy and had blood on her shirt.

Mrs. Bush hugged Mel for what Mel said seemed like an eternity, just as if Mel were one of her closest family members. Mrs. Bush then told Brian and Mel that there was "someone" there to see him. The President then walked in, stood by Brian's bedside, asked Brian how he was doing, told him that he was very proud of them both and that they were his heroes. The President then saluted Brian.

Now, at this point in time, Brian is bandaged up pretty well. His hands are burned very badly as well as the back of him from the head down. His movements were very restricted. Upon seeing the President saluting him, Brian began to slowly return the salute, taking, from the accounts so far, about 15-20 seconds to get his hand up to his head. During all of this, 15-20 seconds, President Bush never moved, never dropped his salute.

The President dropped his salute only when Brian was finished with his, and then gave Mel a huge hug for what also probably seemed like an eternity.

No further comments. Pray for our leadership. Thank God for what we are, have, and will be.

As a note to those of you who might not be familiar with military protocol, the subordinate normally initiates a salute and will hold it until the superior officer returns the salute. In the above incident, President Bush acted in the role of the subordinate to show his respect and high regard for the injured man.

If someone on a fairly popular national radio show called you a 'liar'(be it indirectly) and you weren't, what would your reaction be, regardless of pettiness of the incident?

The point IS Rosie O'Donnell LIED at the expense of another, when she could have had many plausible excuses for being seated. Standing or sitting is not the issue with me. Her LIE is.(Similarly to Clinton's affairs, I couldn't care less, except that he was too cowardly to speak the truth)

But who cares? Really, is this important? She's just a citizen...for now, she's doing the right thing. So now we're going to be the thought police? trying to discern WHY people say and do the things they do? Thank God she's seen some light and pray it stays that way.

Exactly. That's exactly why he was upset, please see my post #52. Really, he had his personal and professional reputation at stake.

I miss Hugh Hewitt in the mornings here in So Cal.
Me too! I've e-mailed the station and told them I've had to go back to NPR--and it's all their fault.

I heard Dennis Prager give HIS version of the video on his program this morning; he thinks that Rosie was "squatting" - to be at the same eye-level level as her son. He (Dennis) understands how Mike could have believed that she was "sitting."
So, in Dennis' opinion, NEITHER of them "lied." And he applauds Rosie's newfound support for the President - in spite of their political differences.

As for Hugh, I have rearranged my schedule to facilitate listening to Hugh at his new time - 3pm to 6pm California time.

My MORNING radio schedule is still flexible... ;o)

I am indexing this thread for the Hugh Hewitt bump_list.

If anyone finds ANY thread that may be of interest to nationally syndicated talk show host Hugh Hewitt (or his listeners), just post a reply to "Hugh Hewitt," and THAT thread will be marked for retrieval, when that bump_list link is clicked.

Check out the posts ALREADY marked for Hugh's attention at http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/fr/involved?group=81, and,
on threads marked on the OTHER interesting "bump_lists" on John Robinson's official "Free Republic Bump List Register."

For more about Hugh, read HUGH HEWITT and Free Republic: How should we help him help us? [Who **IS** this guy?]

"...he thinks that Rosie was "squatting""

'squatting' is neither standing or sitting. They both 'lied' is more honest than saying neither of them 'lied', IMHO.

Of course, nothing except the 'truth' would be gained if Dennis called them BOTH liars. The least he could have done 'for the children' is say that, technically, neither one of them was totally honest.

By the way, I will say that I hope Rosie does see the light regarding honesty and integrity in leadership. But, I would wager $20 that NO WAY was she 'squatting', kneeling maybe; but nobody over 40 with weight problems puts that kind of pressure on their knees.

Thanks, RonDog. I'm catching as much of Hugh as I can in his new time in Denver. I tried NPR, thinking it would make me so p.o.'d I'd really be revved in the morning. Compared to Hugh, though, NPR's style is so slow and plodding, that I almost went back to sleep!

Actors are notoriously ill-educated and O'Donnell is among the thousands of her kind in Hollywierd. In the old days of the studio system Rosie's publicist would have expunged her gaffs before the press picked them up. Her agent may be telling her to move away from her anti-gun rhetoric because the Million Moms are d-e-a-d politically and her ratings show this.
