Talk show host Tom Sullivan just reported that during a press conference Gov. Davis said he was notified that there is evidence that terrorists plan to target the Coronado Bridge (San Diego), the Golden Gate & Bay Bridges (San Francisco) and an LA Bridge (didn't catch the name) tomorrow, Friday, Nov. 2nd.

"Personally I think posts like yours are worthless." Likewise Illbay. Just because you've been around here a while doesn't mean you own the place.
Keep posting evilsmoker! Fair and balanced...let us decide.

But one Japanese battleship is less damaging to our econmy than one hundred thousand cars ...... As a guy who grew up in a steel town, I could never quite bring myself to buy a rice burner. But I don't think they hurt or economy at all. In fact, they helped it. Without the pressure from Japanese imports, Detroit would still be pushing garbage products down our throats like they did in the 70s. The Japanese made them shape up.

Yes, but why would the terrorists risk pissing off all their loyal liberal supporters in Berkeley and LA?
Cars are eeeeeeevil and shouldn't be driving on bridges anyway. Push for more underground mass transit systems is inevitable. Currently mass transit, a.k.a. BART, doesn't go to the North Bay whereas the Golden Gate Bridge does.

Coronado Bridge makes a lot of sense. Take that down, and you trap the Pacific Fleet (whatever is left in port) at their docks. Thanks for the answer - I was just wondering that. I've only been to San Diego once but remember this bridge, and its logistics, vividly. I certainly hope these attacks will be thwarted!

So this is what they are going to do....a BRIDGE? Oh, how scary. /sarcasm

This would work (for them): In a truck loaded with gasoline and primed with a small bomb, drive to the middle of a suspension bridge and detonate. The resulting fire would melt the cables and the bridge would collapse.
Defense: Stop all trucks before entering the bridge. Remove driver. An assigned driver takes the truck across the bridge. The original driver is 'van-ed' across later. Any driver who attempts to force the roadblock is killed by automatic fire.

Does the Coronado Bridge really cut off the fleet? I sure hope were aren't that naive. They better get those ships out to the open sea NOW!

I thought L.A. had no harbor or port Between LA and Long Beach it's the biggest port on the West Coast.

It would be a cinch with some small nuclear weapons.

Yes - please do keep posting.
My appologies to evilsmoker - my intent was simply to agree with Illbay that there are many "worthless" posts - not that this was one of them.

I've seen the Coronado Bridge partially dismantled to allow for ship passage.

Golden Gate Bridge, with it's twin towers, would be a likely target. 11/2 = "Twin towers - the sequel"?????

If the terrorcreeps target SD, they would be quite stupid. As we speak, US Navy Seals are in charge of providing security for the Fleet in SD. This is THEIR turf, I don't think the terrorcreeps would be able to pull anything off in the Seals backyard. It would be nice to see them try and then to see them getting bitch-slapped by a bunch of navy seals with ski-masks on there heads and machine-guns in there hands.
