He asked for facts. I hardly call that "obsessing." I agree, you are not obsessing. We will NEVER forget!

I heard that too. There was a heavy door barring entry to the roof, from what I heard.

They should take those horrific pictures and send them to these anti-war idiots.
Some of them should actually be shown to the American public....it will help keep things in perspective when we hear about innocent victims who are killed in Afghan, Iraq or wherever we have to go.

If the average "Joe" or "Jane" on the street knew of the carnage and that they are removing little more than rotten hamburger with bone chips, teeth and powdered concrete that smells like garbage mixed with aviation fuel from the wreckage now, kabul, karachi, islamabad, damascus, tehran, bagdad, rihyad, cairo and mecca would be a smoldering radioactive ruin. They are keeping it under wraps for fear of real retaliation and public backlash.

The
Newark Star Ledger ran a story 2 Sunday's ago that covered a mother's search for her 2 children in the WTC day care. Unfortunately I can not dig the link out of their free archive. It was posted on FR but I can't find it here either despite multiple search engines.
The day care center was located in Building 5. The teachers scooped up the kids right after the first plane hit and headed out with some of the infants placed in shopping carts. The two groups were split up but all the children were eventually safe and sound at St. Vincent's Hospital.

My son told me that the Spanish language station on our Time-Warner Cable showed the whole situation on 9-11, including the poor souls jumping, etc. while the American stations cut it off. A friend of mine confirmed it-she was flipping throught he TV dials on 9-11-01 and kept it on the Spanish station as they showed the people jumping while the American stations didn't-not that she was gruesome, far from it, but the Spanish station gave a better historical perspective of the horror, and she didn't even speak Spanish. I didn't know until later in the week that the Spanish station showed the people jumping. You might get a total from them.

I think every network should be forced to show all of their footage of the people jumping out of the twin towers and show it every night until this war is over.

They kept this too sanitized. That is something that the muslim community have been able to exploit to their advantage. Show their pictures and censor ours, and then wonder: how long will it take to show a change on the public opinion?
At least the children in the hospital beds had the chance to survive. That is not so with the thousands that were torn to pieces or burnt into oblivion on the east coast on 9/11.

People also made it to the roof and were awaiting helicopter evacuation. Poor people!!! I had heard that no one was on the roof because the access from inside had been blocked so as not to invite jumpers, stunt people etc. I'd heard that there were helicopters looking for people, though they'd had no orders to go in.
I would have thought it would be too hot from the burning fuel going up any elevator shafts, etc.

I think we need to think about the gruesome details, especially when the talking heads start to weep over the "innocents" we bomb. It is like those films of the holocaust, they were horrible and graphic but the jews have not shrunk from showing their children those so it can never happen again. I don't think we should shrink from it either. Hell, they died, the least we can do is understand, see and feel their horror. It will steel us for what is to come.
To: Sungirl
similarly, next time you hear about some collateral damage, state, "gee, that's still even far fewer than the number of folks in on just one floor of the WTC that had to jump"
To: ErnBatavia
I had an e-mail from a friend who watched the entire thing unfold from an office window on Canal Street. I think it was hundreds of people who jumped.

Father Mike died of a heart attack while ministering last rites to a firefighter.

If you were there, would you be counting as people jumped, or would you turn away in horror?I would be horrified, but I think I would turn away more in shame and utter frustration about not being able to save them! I also feel I would be impinging on their privacy.

One women was interviewed on tv and she was in a state of shock said she saw lines of people jumping or getting sucked out of the windows, some of them holding hands. The other report that I cannot forget was from the WSJ that described the puffs of red vapor as the people hit the sidewalk or decks at ground level. It doesn't bother me in the least about the dead Afghani's. They started this evil mess.

What was the declaired missing number at the Pentagon and the "identified" number to date? They give the count for the Towers. How many of the passengers and terrorists were identified? Lots of unpublished figures, it seems.
Did any of the terrorists names ever appear on the Airlines' list of passengers. They weren't on web sites immediatly after 911. How is that possible?
To: SpaceBar
add khartoum, sanaa, and mogadishu and you have my list.
Santa Bush is coming to town.

I heard that too. There was a heavy door barring entry to the roof, from what I heard. CNN printed the transcript from a cellphone call saying that he/she was one of 40 people that had reached the roof (I don't know which tower). The caller asked 911 "tell us how to save our lives". Also, the reason the Cantor Fitzgerald people were not able to reach the roof is that the collision caused debris to block the fire doors into the stairwell to the roof ... that doesn't preclude other higher floors being able to reach the roof.

Yes...Michael Judge was killed when one of those jumpers landed on him.
