MIAMI - Federal agents are searching for six men who were detained in the Midwest but later released even though they were carrying material about a nuclear power plant in Florida and an Alaskan pipeline.

FBI director Robert Mueller was said to be ``furious'' at the release, the Miami Herald reported, citing an unidentified senior law enforcement official.

The incident apparently contributed to the new terror warning issued by the U.S. government, it said. FBI and INS officials were not immediately available to comment on the report.

Noi, We are not at WAR! Congress refuses to say we are. They are afraid of offending a visitor or some other nation.

I am beginning to believe that the INS does no work for the United States but for some foreign immigrants union. Do they ever try to evaluate their decisions on what's best for America or is it always what is best for the foreigner?

"Man this screw-up is hard to believe! "

Maybe 10-years ago it would have been.

HOLY SMOKE

I live near a nuke plant and have some pictures,
complete with touring guides of the building!

Will I be subject to imprisonment?

(maybe I should burn the data before Ashcroft sees it?)

Are you saying WABC says the entire story is a hoax or just the part about the FBI being "furious"???

Maybe I was too elliptical for you to understand.

If the sirens go off, GET UPWIND OF THE PLANT. The radioactive stuff will form a plume downwind of the plant.

Gosh, how hard is that to understand?

Per President Bush's speech I'd say that the INS is "with the terrorists."

The Immigration and Naturalization Service decided the passports were valid

I think INS is where Tom Ridge needs to concentrate the realighnment of priorities. Your opinions welcome!

What is so incredible is that it should be so easy to prove or disprove the truck bomb. Go to a deserted area, builed the same building as was destroyed in OKC. Get the same truck that was used, fill it with the same amount of fuel oil and fertlizer, park it the same distance away from the building and then let it explode. If the building looks like the one in OKC, case closed. But if the building looks different after the explosion, then reopen the case and get some answers.

Concerning the six men released by the INS. Yes, I agree heads should roll. But we need a computer system tied into all - I mean every - law enforcement facility in the USA. When the cop on the beat makes an entry into the system, key words should be set up so that it automatically alarms some type of central authority.

Also, on FOX News this morning, during the rerun of Cavuto's program yesterday. It was discussed that planes come into the country from the mideast and they do not release the manifest. What is wrong here? If during the next strike and it is found out that it was done by people who came into the country after 9/11, will that be enough to shut our borders down? I remember several years ago on FR someone did a mock news report on American cities being nuked by China. Only by the tenth or eleventh bombing - and then it was Atlanta where CNN is located - did the people and media finally awake to the danger. Funny at the time but you wonder if that is what's it going to take?

Yes, and we wouldn't want anyone thinking that the cops were "profiling" any group either! Why the ACLU would have a fit!

The FBI has been so unwilling to share information, it's no wonder local law enforcement agencies make these mistakes. Heck, they might have even done this simply to spite the FBI. Whadda bunch of brownshirts...

I wonder what effect these terror warnings have when no details are given as to what the threat is and where the location is. I guess the government doesn't want to cause a panic, if so it would be better to not say anything, IMHO.
