Oh, great. I fly to the East Coast from SEATAC next week. I hear they're laying in an extra supply of rubber gloves for that "special" search...
Usually I like to travel in a robe, a false beard, and muttering "kill the infidels" - it usually guarantees me an empty seat next to me, but I don't think it'll work this time.

Yeah, I wouldn't try it this time. Actually, I flew out to D.C. a few weeks ago and it took about 2 hours to get through the lines. When I left Dulles coming home, it took 15 min. I did lots of looking around and concluded that the bottom line is that SeaTac is just run by incompetents. But then, we've known that for a while, eh?

I hear they're laying in an extra supply of rubber gloves for that "special" search...I've been flying in and out of SeaTac regularly the past couple of weeks with no problem. However in Houston I was held up by the security guards making all the guys take off their boots and belts. Fortunately my underwire didn't set off any alarms!!
It has been my experience that the smaller airports are being more intrusive - I watched a counter agent unpack an elderly woman's suitcase one garmet at a time - and this suitcase was to be checked not carried on!

Oh, yes, it still will. But the empty seat next to you won't be on an airplane.
