Like everyone else here, I hope they just don't talk about what they're doing (so why is this article out there?). Nasty things have to be done in times like these when our enemies are sending deadly bugs to our national agencies through our own mail, among whatever else they're planning.

So the CIA has to go find someone who's retired because they have no one who knows how to do this stuff. What the hell do they do there? Have diversity and sexual harrassment workshops?

Oh, and by the way, CIA, next time you've got a target under one of your drones...FIRE THE DAMN MISSILE AND ASK FOR PERMISSION LATER.

Ship them one-way to Israel. Check back in 24 hours for ALL the info they had previously refused to spill!

I'm not sure Sodium Pentothal would be as effective as we would like to believe.

What Is Truth Serum

Excerpt:
If you were to drink a glass of water with Sodium Pentothal, it would depress your central nervous system, slow your heart rate and lower your blood pressure. All of the listed above affects are the functions of any sedative. Sodium Pentothal is commonly used as an anesthetic during surgery. The patient is unconscious within 30 to 60 seconds after the drug administration to the veins. The duration of the anesthesia is very short; it only causes a few minutes of sedation.

Does anyone know if there are other drugs out there that have been used, are available, and more effective than this one?

Bump to you, Dan. Agreed.

I don't want the terrorists to win in ANY way, and using these tactics would be a win for them,IMO.

We have billions of dollars invested in intelligence, if we can't develop a drug that will work effectively, and if we can't find the info. needed, then it's time that we figure out why.

I'm still out on whether handing them over to those that do practice these tactics would be right. It seems we should at least be able to hand them over to the Northern Alliance as prisoners of war. Step back and receive the info as it comes.

Other drugs (I'd have to look them up), in conjunction with other "therapy" (nothing to do with torture).

"Why were the terrorists' cars not cultured 6 weeks ago?"

They were busy trying to pin this stuff on those evil "right-wing extremists?"

In the olden days (when they we're a little more brutal), they'd use Sammy Davis' Candyman.
Oh just the thought.... < /shudder >

What many of the arm chair warriors do not understand is that torture is a very ineffective means of garnering intel. One can gain far more with a friendly meal, a cigarette, and pleasent conversation. The purpose is to gain information that is useful. Most of the Al Qaeda types we will get will not have very much detailed knowledge of operations planned for the future. What we need are associates and structure this is better obtained by conversation than pain. Now, as to strikes against the terrorists and those who harbor or support them I have no problem if collateral damage takes out some family members but I do not think that it is the way to go. I also have no problem with taking out a village city or nation state if necessary but I do not believe that this war can be won by kidnapping family members. The terrorists will sacrifice any individual family member since this is a jihad. We need to focus on what will work.

Stay well - Stay safe - stay armed - Yorktown

I like the quote from Gladiator. Commodus wants information about the impending coup from his sister. So he talks of how the Emperor Claudius was betrayed and how Claudius found out what he wanted to know:

What have you been up to, you busy little bee, tell me? Or I shall strike down those nearest you, and you shall watch as I bathe in their blood.
