First put on your shoes.

Get a mirror, and a good light source.

Back up toward the mirror, and kick yourself in the ass...

Ouch, I'm running fdisk right now on my laptop but I wouldn't tell anyone who doesn't know how to do a clean install to use fdisk.

Create a startup disk from "add/remove programs" in the control panel. Then copy format.com to the disk (search windows/command directory). Put the disk in the drive and reboot the computer. Then format the C drive -->A:/>format C:

Actually my dad owned an Edsel for many years. It one of the best cars he ever had. The vehicle did not sell well but it was a pretty damn good car.

In life you have a choice of being like everyone else and being a sheeple or having some individuality and judging for yourself (read that be a windoze sheeple or buy a mac....a real computer).

Oh my! I know my advice won't be of much use to you but at least you should know I sympathize (empathize) with you. Last weekend I upgraded from ME to XP and it was not fun. I kept getting error messages until I booted with a Win 98 disk I had. Then XP loaded straight on.

It is much faster than ME and I am starting to get used to the new (different) layout. The downside is that I lost my R/W software (but XP has that built-in), I lost my scanner and my cam because they don’t have XP drivers and I lost my favorite game “Might and Magic VIII” because XP doesn’t like that game. Other than that, I’m glad to be rid of ME.

Don’t listen to the MAC folks. Their experience leaves them with an inability to discuss the “computer experience” much beyond Atari or Pong. The bump-in-the-road you’re current experiencing will pass.

Have a great day.

That extra $100 to get a decent Mac pays off in the long run, heck even the short run.

Yeah, right. I've been waiting for you to post some competitive numbers so we can compare.

That experience left me to wonder weather or not many Mac users are just oblivious to the number of problems their systems have just because they're told the Mac is "painless".

Wonder no more. Mac and Linux users are among the most self-deluded and self-esteem-challenged bunch of losers I've ever come across. They practically beg everybody on these Windows threads to use their pathetic little OS's.

You're going to have to take it deeper to get that free upgrade of MS-Bob.

Here is advise that will save you a great deal of time and trouble with XP: Wait a year and let all the other saps work out the bugs. Just how badly do you need a new operating system?

"The iBook is sweet!"

So is antifreeze.

Thanks for demonstrating the courteous nature of Mackentoy worshippers by barging into a Windows thread to stroke your... toy.

"We can't say that either OS is original... OS X is really free BSD, and the NT kernel was really originally OS/2"

Um, you're forgetting that MS wrote OS/2.

I knew a FOAF who worked for I've Been Moved around the time of the Great Divorce. He showed me his beta copy of "Microsoft OS/2". Since the divorce happened before the OS went gold, and the settlement terms left I've B.M. with the rights to the name (and the MS branding died before it went to market), most people think that IBM wrote OS/2, and MS copied it. Nope.

Disregard most prior messages in this thread.

For an easy install, go to the MSFT site and download the file which contains the 6 installation/setup diskettes. Click on that file and it will create the diskettes. Boot on the first diskette and the rest is automatic.
