Fearing charges of religious persecution, the FBI for years has hesitated to investigate radical Islamic clerics in the United States despite evidence that their mosques have been used to recruit and fund suspected terrorists, present and former law enforcement officials said.
Even after the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks, "the veil of religion that has been draped over mosques . . . will be tough to move off," an FBI official said last week. "The Arab American community can become enraged and beat on the FBI."

This is like the article in the Wash. Post or the Times yesterday, in which an unnamed FBI official said the High Alert warning was issued so that the gov wouldn't be "blamed" if something does occur.
Is the Justice Dept. run by a bunch of tort lawyers???
Disgusting behavior.
I don't think the fact that they are religious is what's holding the FBI back; it's that they're Muslim, and we don't want to offend anyone, lest they think we're not P.C.!
Right on...it's just flat out sickening how these new type FBI agents behave!!
A muslim woman saw what I had and asked if I was muslim. When I told her no and that I only wanted to study it, she became upset and told me I am not supposed to have it and asked what dollar amount I wanted for it, and got really mad when I told her it was not for sale at any price.
I lightly skimmed through it afterward and put it away with the rest of my junk. It was written in english, but came from the east, possibly Turkey. Could there be a difference in the ones in a bookstore here and the ones they have over there? I think I need to find that book.
