WASHINGTON (AP) -- Pakistani authorities have arrested and turned over to American custody a Yemeni microbiology student wanted in connection with the bombing of the USS Cole, The Washington Post reported from Karachi.

Jamil Qasim Saeed Mohammed, 27, is an active member of the al Qaeda network run by Osama bin Laden, the alleged organizer of the September 11 on the World Trade Center and the Pentagon, the newspaper said in Sunday editions.

Yes. I was thinking the same thing. The accounts of that handover sounded like somebody had od'd on Tom Clancy -- people wearing hoods, etc -- but maybe it really happened that way. If so perhaps we should accord more respect in the future to whatever is said by the sources that released those accounts (I can't remember what they were; maybe it's worth a search). I'd be interested in whatever other Freepers have to say about how this article lines up with those accounts of the handover.

It would be interesting to find out what kind of studies the Muslim students are in. I wonder how many "microbiology" majors they have. It seems many studied engineering, not to learn how to build buildings but how to destroy them.
