2 times, within the last 1/2 hour, I've seen commercials on Foxnews for the Red Cross. It features Miss/Mrs. Healy, the FORMER President, appealing for funds and blood for the WTC victims.
There is significant controversy surrounding the use of these funds, the fact that some of the blood has EXPIRED, and the fact that she is no longer President are ALL good reasons to pull these ads.
My question is WHY is the Red Cross still running these ads?
They cost MONEY....MONEY that was SUPPOSED to be spent on the VICTIMS.
Instead, they are running commercials?
I'm shaking my head in disbelief.
But WHY are they still running the BLOOD ads? And as for the money....??
CELEBRITIES AND CELEBRITIES GET AWAY WITH MURDER" [and THEFT OF 911 DONATIONS]
"TO DIE FOR" Columbia Pictures
Because, by asking for donations, you encourage people to give more money.
It's called advertising.
(Shaking MY head in disbelief)
And she is asking for BLOOD, after it has been disclosed that some of the blood already donated has expired.
AND she is asking for more money for the VICTIMS...when it's been nearly 2 months...
Is this a dumb move...or WHAT?
Dr. Healy has resigned effective Dec. 31. The interim CEO will work with her and will serve until a new permanent CEO is named.
I believe that Dr. Healy tried to clean up some of the crap at the Red Cross, and was tossed for that. Doesn't bother me because I haven't and won't give them a thin dime.
I understand the advertising portion of it.
That's not my complaint. My complaint is: WHY are they STILL running these ads?
If Bill Gates resigned yesterday....would Microsoft still be running ads TODAY?
It makes me think the Red Cross is not 'on-the-ball'...and 2 months after the attack....and with the BAD PRESS they've gotten recently....you'd think there would be someone doing something about it.
I just don't understand.
I just think it would've been a good idea to pull the existing ads and regroup.
It makes it look like the Red Cross is inept.
In many cases they are automatically inserted into the schedule by the scheduling computer.
Normally the station will just keep running them until they receive new ones.
Since these are PSA's no one pays much attention. If the Red Cross sends out a notice to stop running them, it can sometimes take days or weeks until it filters down to scheduling.
I just thought it was kinda 'sleazy' to keep runnig ads featuring her, asking for blood and money for the WTC victims AFTER all this controversy. It made me wonder if the Red Cross thinks we are idiots? (Or in my case...over-reactive....I guess I'll let it die...)
