Funeral for a Friend

-- Washington D.C 10/27/01

In a quiet ceremony attended by only a few close friends, the Fourth Amendment to the United States Constitution was laid to rest in an unmarked grave in an abandoned lot on Constitution Avenue in Washington D.C.

While quite popular in his youth, The Fourth Amendment had fallen on hard times in recent years. "The Fourth" as he was known to his friends, served bravely as the protector of the rights of all Americans but had grown increasingly weak and anemic over the last several decades.

With his resistance all but depleted, The Fourth contracted an accute case of inhalation Anthrax, but the diagnosis came too late to save the frail and withered amendment. He passed quietly in his sleep, and was pronounced dead on the morning of October 26, 2001.

May he rest in peace.

To: nobody in particular
In lieu of flowers, consider a donation to the Society for the Preservation of the United States Constitution.

Mr. Fourth will be resurrected, my friend and it will be stronger
than before, when it is.

It hasn't stopped breathing yet... It still is a little early to call dead and bury it yet...

These laws will be challenged in court and make their way to the Supreme Court where it will meet its final fight.

Then we'll hear all the arguments of why and why it's not constitutional. It will be interesting to hear the arguments and see where the court falls on this issue.

Yes of course...

The old guy could hardly protect anyone any more...

Time for a new guy to step in and make us safe.

I'm afraid he's dead and buried with the signing of the anti-terrorist legislation.

Somebody might dig him up, brush the dust off him, and slap the paddles to his chest after a few years, but I'm afraid it'll be too late by that point.

Who would ever have thought that the US Constitution would be killed by a ragtag band of terrorists living in caves?

Is he buried next to the political future of (the never once elected) Browne?

Now that ol' Fourth is finally out of the way, Big Brother can root out all the bad guys.

Breaking reports from New York indicate that The Second Amendment was accosted by a man with a handful of white powder, while getting out of a taxicab.

The assailant was identified by authorities as Choki Shoomir, and he screamed "In the name of all-merciful HCI" as he did the deed.

Yep ragtag terrorists who came in a pourous border that your hero Harry Browne(Libertarian) lauded and who made their money peddling death(heroin) that most Libertarians think is just a harmless little drug.

Maybe you should look in the mirror and maybe you will see the problem.

Hey buddy, get a life! If you think it violates the fourth amendment challenge it in court. If not, keep quiet.

It's a sad day. Those that knew Fourth loved him dearly. He will be missed.

increasingly weak and anemic over the last several decades

His son came to visit one day. His house was seized because the kid smoked drop on the premises. Then he was jailed because of his consequent inability to pay child support. It's suspected that he would have survived the Anthrax except for the AIDS he developed in his years in prison.

Like I stated, if you feel it the legislation is in conflict with the fourth amendment, challenge it in court. You know, put up or shut up!

...not with a bang, but a whimper...

What Clinton's Justice department could not pass after the OKC bombing by rightwing extremists, Bush's Justice Department gets passed after an attack by leftwing extremists.

You mean challenge it like John Merryman did?
