Miami bureaucrats are scrambling to appease three firemen who removed an "offensive" American flag from their truck. After a six-week "investigation," Chief Dave Paulison is contradicting the fire department's earlier report that William "D.C." Clark, Terry Williams and James Moore refused to ride a truck displaying Old Glory. Paulison now claims the three didn't refuse to work if the flag wasn't removed - but he admits they did take it down and did complain it was a symbol of "oppression" to blacks. He now says they removed it because it blocked their view - though other firemen didn't seem to have the same problem. In addition to their six weeks of paid leave, Clark and Moore must undergo counseling, the chief said. The report cited Clark with that favorite offense of liberals, "being insensitive." "This was a witch hunt. They're still not used to black men standing up and having an opinion of their own," fumed Clark, who has cried to the media that the U.S. has never apologized for slavery. Paulison said, "I have no doubt that our findings will give a clear understanding of the actions taken by our department and that we will now be able to put this incident behind us." Nope, it's not going away, despite all the spinning. Several firefighters have said they would refuse to work with the three men or back them up in a fire after they return to work this weekend, the Miami Herald reported today.

I just thought that in the spirit of the healing our nation finds itself involved in following the senseless slaughter of thousands of innocent citizens, it would be a good time for someone to step forward and tell black Americans that we haven't forgotten how important your issues are, we haven't totally forgiven ourselves for the lack of sympathy and caring we have neglected to show you over the last couple of months following the attacks. (end sarcasm) To put this in a whole new perspective, all of you clamoring for reparations should stop and assess your present situations and determine for yourselves what price can you put on your freedom. THen evaluate this into the plight of your ancestors who suffered , not you, your ancestors, and determine if you would have even been born, let alone survive to live and prosper in the greatest nation on Earth. Then decide for yourselves if you are owed an apology for your distant ancestors having been sold into slavery so that you might have been born to freedom. And while you are doing this soul searching, perhaps you should make a resolution to read a little American history and you will see for yourselves that there was most definitely a serious attempt at reparations;hence 40 acres and a mule, and that at the time that was offered, it was a very valuable offering, and then maybe this whole thing can be put to rest. If living free in America isn't enough reparation to those of you who are actually alive, try to think seriously about returning to the countries which were originally guilty of selling your ancestors(black slave traders, at that) and live there in the luxury and freedom you have here. It wouldn't be possible. And if all of these things I have mentioned are still not enough to convince you to get over the notion that America owes you something, I have one final thing to say: I AM TRULY SORRY< I PERSONALLY APOLOGISE FOR THOSE IGNORANT PEOPLE OF OUR WAY DISTANT PAST WHO BOUGHT AND SOLD AND TRADED SLAVES, AND I HOPE THAT, SINCECERELY, AN APOLOGY IS ENOUGH TO MAKE YOU FEEL BETTER. I PERSONALLY HAVE DONE NO WRONG, AND NEITHER HAS ANY LIVING AMERICAN,BUT I FEEL THAT IT IS IN THE INTEREST OF OUR COUNTRY FOR YOU GUYS TO GET OVER THIS.MAY GOD BLESS AMERICA AND LONG MAY OUR FLAG WAVE.

My grandson's school, each Friday (since 9-11) has red, white & blue day. They all wear the colors. They wear t-shirts with patriotic sayings. They say the pledge (each day, actually). They're being taught to be PROUD to be an American. And they're a hodgepodge of races.....so yes, let's grow up, shall we, and realize that we still do live in the greatest nation on God's green earth.
That also goes for Biden, Feinstein, Boxer, etal.........

...but he admits they did take it down and did complain it was a symbol of "oppression" to blacks...Whoever takes them back needs to be fired. These are flag hating jerks. If the US flag is a symbol of Oppression, after it was flown by union soldiers in every battle of the civil war, then they need to find the flag they like and move there. I know people get slammed for saying it, but those ingrates aren't satisfied with bashing the Conderate flag. Now it's the US flag. This exposes that bashing the Confederate flag was just an excuse.
Miami should offer them a one way ticket to some other country and be done with it.

This is so freaking stupid. If I went to France, should I expect the French to take down their flag just because I believe the Government of France to be a bunch of surrendering cowards who forced Americans to die because they didn't have the courage to fight? I mean I'm offended by that but I wouldn't expect them to take down their flag. That is of course unless they were in the process of surrendering again to someone.

Did you not know that an apology is an admission of guilt and therefore the blacks are going to come after you for reparations!! This is not sarcastic.
The MAIN reason that the US government has not apologized for slavery is because once they do apologize, the sleazy lawyers will be seeing dollar signs like never before. An apology is a form of expressing guilt and therefore they will sue for reparations. As long as we DO NOT apologize, they cannot get reparations, but once we do, IT'S OVER!!! You thought the tax rates were bad now, how about 90% or so...

I included that I personally was not guilty of anything, and in no way was my attempt at apology meant to be sarcastic, if this is what they keep saying in regard to why they feel they need reparations, that they just wanted an apology, then that is what I have offered up, as atonement for the choices of dead people, a sincere apology(as if that is what they really wanted at all, ever).

since you referred to me as a white man, I felt it necessary to offer clarification, and the south's problems were in no way made better or worse for the fact that some peanut farms weren't tended to as they should have been by former slaves, the problem with the south was the utter devastation of the towns and villages during the war and the lack of money to rebuild antebellum.

As one black said on a radio station, "I hate to say it but thank God for slavery otherwise I would be in Africa today."

I for one am not going to tolerate this "I am offended" nonsense anymore. In fact, I am "offended" that they try and take away freedom of expression because they are offended.
No, if they are offended, they will just be offended. I have often been offended and nobody cared - that's life.

I know what you meant, and I apologize if I came across like I didn't. I was just trying to put into words exactly what the reparations crowds are looking for, an apology, this opens up a HUGE can of worms for us if that happens.
But I agree with you 100%, slavery was wrong, but it has been over for over 130 years. When will they stop using it for the crutch that they use it for? Indeed it is time for them to move on with life, it is long over, it is now up to them how long they will let this hold them back.

.....it is now up to them how long they will let this hold them back..... Wonderful way of putting it, I think that is exactly the problem with the victimization of America, also falls hand in hand with the PC crap and all those who sit on their backsides and bitch after elections they didn't bother to vote in... It is time for an end to apathy and an end to pity parties of self-righteous indignation.

Mr. Clark, your apology was given on April 9, 1865. If the blood of 600,000 men isn't good enough for you, then please leave the country you hate so much. And good riddance.

Do we still suck? What is it going to take for this country to all stand together and not give into these traitors?
