[history]
Traces of anthrax have been found in a building at the Central Intelligence Agency in Langley, Virginia, where incoming mail is sorted, U.S. officials tell CNN. The amount of anthrax detected in what officials say were highly sensitive and sophisticated tests was "medically insignificant" an official said, but the building has been closed until further testing and cleaning can be done.

Anthrax found at CIAJust what the hell kind of security measures are you guys taking?

These anthrax letters probably aren't marked, and in all likelyhood don't have the hallmarks of the earlier mailings. In other words, there's no warning, just ordinary mail - then sickness...

So feed'em some Cipro and keep them working while the building gets cleaned!
We NEED this agency working, they are a "must have" necessity at this point in time!

I think Bill Gates is behind this. Force the Government to use nothing but E-mail! Now THERE is a monopoly!

Perhaps you should ask the same question about hallucenogenic drugs...

Well they have to open their mail at some time and someone has to find the anthrax spores.
I suspect mailroom outsourcing and scanning in to PDFs will now become a big business. Cushman & Wakefield already does the outsourcing bit.

The CIA is crippled. NSA is our current backbone. If they (The No Such Agency) get's nailed, get real concerned.
To: grimalkin
however antibiotics have been offered to all staff handling mail in bulk and to any other interested employees of the agency. Ouch. Buying Cipro overseas is a big cover buster.

Ya just gotta love the
oldiesis that shoe phone thing for real, or is it just another Buck Henry brownie eating escapade?

Do we realize how many thousands of people are being treated with Cipro right now? If these letters continue to be sent "through" various post offices, how in the world are we going to keep an adequate supply of this drug on hand in case something "really" big hits.
I SURELY don't mean to imply that we should chance the lives of our postal workers, but it just seems ridiculous that thousands and thousands are being treated in New York right now.

If something "big" hits, literally millions of people will be demanding treatment. Only a fraction of them will really need it, but we won't have any way of deciding who they are until it's too late. It will be total chaos.
Let's face it. We screwed up. We voted for Clinton (twice). Now Saddam has us by the balls. Very well. We have been here before, albeit sixty years ago. Might as well swallow our pride and batten down the hatches. It's going to be a bumpy ride.

... yeah, I'll bet we all have "insignificant" amounts of "Aunt Thrax" in our midsts. So what?

We NEED this agency working, they are a "must have" necessity at this point in time! Actually they seem to be a pretty useless agency by the looks of it.

Cipro isn't the safest thing to be taking anyhow. It's getting absurd, smallpox has been on the list of reportable diseases for 5 months now and there's no vaccines for it available. Something is pretty wrong.

When is someone going to tell us all this anthrax in these different places (other than post offices) are coming from OTHER than those 3 published block-print letters? I know it's assumed, at least I believe it is. Didn't the FBI say something about "more letters possible"? Has anything been said again about that? Or am I dreaming?
