FREEPERS: Are You a Vet or Currently Serving in the Armed Forces?
Posted on 10/24/2001 7:40:43 AM PDT by Billie
Are you a veteran or currently serving in the Armed Forces? If you would like to be included in our daily USO CANTEEN threads, please contact me by Freep Mail with information and photo.
Below are a few of the Freepers who have already sent their photos for inclusion. Some are in uniform; others have asked to be included with a current photo instead. We salute all our veterans and active service men and women and offer our heartfelt thanks for your service.
Logos served in the United States Army from 1962-83. SwedeGirl's husband was a 1st Lieutenant in the photo above, serving in Viet Nam 1/9 CAV Huey Lift Pilot 1969-70. Neil E. Wright's photo was taken in 1977 at CTF 72/ComPatWingsWestpac, Kamiseya, JA. He was in the Navy. FallGuy, Snow Bunny's husband, also served in the Navy on the USS KULA GULF. 1John submitted his photo in uniform and asked us to "guess the year" it was taken; hopefully he will provide that information since no one guessed correctly! Sneakypete's photo was taken after he returned from a mission in Laos, Viet Nam in 1969. T'wit's photo in uniform was taken during the famed "Berlin Crisis" of 1960. COB1 sent his photo from his first liberty out of Boot Camp. LadyX was a Marine in the Korean Conflict. She was a Classroom Subjects Instructor for women recruits at Parris Island. Dick Bachert submitted this photo from the U.S.A.F. when he was 24 years old. 68-69TonkinGulfYatchClub served in the United States Navy. YankeeinSC, husband of Commonsense, is a Viet Nam Air Force veteran. His photo was taken on the recent Freeper Cruise. Delta 21 is currently serving in the U.S. Navy, going on 20 years. JoeSixPack1 is retired from the U.S.M.C.

Doug, I think there are probably enough instructions on the profile page to get you up and running - click on the "Edit Profile" and see what help is there, k?

Thanks, LiteKeeper, for your service. My purpose was to do another collage (or two, or more) of photos to add to the USO Canteen thread. I hope you can get a photo to me to be included. See my post #20 and see if that's feasible, ok?

Thanks, Billie. I've got it at home, so I'll be able to frustrate myself with it to my patience's content.

I can only imagine the effect seeing LadyX had on those poor young jarheads.
To: LadyX
It should be a truly grand Album by the time Veterans Day arrives on November 10th. "November 10th"? When did they change it? Since I got MY discharge on November 11th,it's not too likely I would forget THAT is Veterans Day.

Is that a grease gun hanging on your shoulder? Yup,sure is. Reliable as a rock, but not quite as complicated. Loved 'em.
To: sneakypete
I liked them because when you ran out of ammo you always throw that three pound bolt, then the barrel, then the frame, then the clips. LOL You look as if you have my build, did it push you back two steps every clip like it did me?

LOOKIT YOU! Ain't you pretty in your uniform!
To: B4Ranch
I liked them because when you ran out of ammo you always throw that three pound bolt, Ever fire one with the "suppressor barrel" on it? Since the 45ACP is sub-sonic,the suppressor works REALLY well to quiet the sound of the round being fired, but you still hear this really loud "clang!" every time the bolt goes forward.

I am an Army Vet (Boznia) and about to go Navy. I just lost my job as an Aircraft Mechanic (American Eagle) and need to support the wife and kid. I'll send a pic and name as soon as I get one.
