Furthermore, they say, we enforce sanctions on Iraq that result in the death of thousands of children.

Springer into these deeply religious nations their leaders are upset with us?

Afghanistan to stop embassy bombings was both naive and counterproductive.

Is it any wonder after beaming Jerry Springer into these deeply religious nations their leaders are upset with us?
Nobody has to watch it. The author almost implies that we are strapping unwilling viewers to chairs and forcing them to watch.

What about the dangerous drugs that other countries -- including Afghanistan -- export to us and to our ally nations like Great Britain? Again, we individually have the choice not to consume such things.

Agreed on several points, but I think what motivates these terrorists can be further defined even more - it's all about power and control. If the medieval lifestyle suits that purpose, they go with it, at least in public, but doesn't OBL have all kindza sophisticated electronic equipment in that cave? Along with Pepsi? They have no problem taking the parts they like from modern civilization. They're hypocrites, they're liars, and they're now murderers ~ what more do we need to understand, right?

There are no "good" Muslims except for the bewildered and uneducated who are unwittingly led by the catalyst of fear and hatred.

Islam is a political system and not a true religion. It provides easy access to secular power for it's leadership.

In order to gather a following it must teach victimization to it's followers. It must also maintain the ignorance of the masses. These two pre-requisites are taught to those following this ghastly "religion."

Muslims must be dealt with ruthlessly if civilization is to survive. I lived among them in North Africa and know them well.

I have a question...

People kill one, two, a few people. We lock them up.

People kill a few thousand human beings, and we have calls for understanding.

Why should bin Laden be treated any differently than Ted Bundy? I don't recall anyone attempting to argue that ol' Ted was misunderstood. Why is it that the more people one kills, the more slack one is cut? Shouldn't that work the other way around??

It's not about the bombing, it's about power. With each new McDonalds, each new Kentucky Fried Chicken, each new satellite dish, these men see their power and control slipping away.

Its a culture war, but, it's a war about power.

When I was in Vietnam I learned 'you don't mess with a man's rice bowl.', and 'they don't care what corrupt leader, communist or capitalist, is in the palace, as long as they have a full rice bowl.'

Our culture (the future) is messing with their 'rice bowl', and there is nothing either side can do about it, and the toothpaste genie of knowledge is getting squeezed out of the tube and can't be put back in, by either side.

Messing with it how, other than to fill it?

Yes, it's exactly what Hitler did in the 1930s.
