How Have We Become a Nation of Dumbies?
FreedomFriend | 10/21/01 | Freedom Friend

Posted on 10/21/2001 12:54:14 PM PDT by FreedomFriend

I'm posting this topic in an effort to try to get a grip on the insanity that plagues this country. Generally speaking, I know the reasons, but it is without logic why our country continues to spiral out of control towards oblivion in regards to political, social, and cultural traits. Thus, without further ado, I will try to explain some of the many examples.

In regard to politics, how can our politicians continue to promote policies that expand government control. Furthermore, how can they neglect to get involved in those areas that are constitutionally given? Not only that, but how can some politicians promote the elimination of various examples of American Rights and, or, Freedoms?

For example, how can our federal government neglect to protect our borders? They do this through their underfunding of the border patrol; a unit of a mere 7000 agents, whereas the NYC police has roughly 30,000 cops. Meanwhile, illegal aliens, non-assimilating individuals, enemies of America, drugs, etc. continue to easily "break-through" our borders. As a result, our culture is under constant attack and is continuously broken down. Not only that, but how can the government, under the guise of public schools, continue to promote an insane mantra known as "Multiculturalism" and "Diversity" despite the known damaging effects and divisionary tactics that have been proven throughout history? How can many of our politicians push for gun control, the destruction of the family unit through Homosexual marriage, benefits, etc, and the elimination of free speech through hate crimes legislation? How can our government be so in-line with what the liberal, socialist elite say and believe? For example, it appears that our policies align themselves up with what the media says, though it is on a ten year delay. How can all of these things be happening to such a great country, though the majority of individuals, deep-down, resent it?

As it appears, there is no "We the People". The people have so little say. It is the socialist elite throughout the media, the government, and the Universities that dictate nearly the entire direction of this country; a bleak one. If good, moral men speak up, the media silences them through the slandering of their names. If good men with GREAT ideas run for public office, many of the campaign contributers, aka big business, will not back them. Thus, they cannot get their views out to the people in comparison to the frontleaders who merely stand for the status-quo; that is, a continuation of socialism and the elimination of freedoms, morals, decency, etc. As it stands, it appears that the government, the media, the schools/universities, and big business (to less of an extent) has been sabotaged by people who hate traditional America and true Americanism.

I often think about the state of things. I wonder why many honorable businesses, organizations, etc. do not put their money together and purchase various thought-disseminating institutions such as networks, newspapers, etc. It simply doesn't make sense. Unless the haters of America do not want to sell, are there really too few financially-rich individuals who have America's best interests at heart, instead caring about how they are perceived or their financial assets?

Are there really too few individuals in congress to speak up for what's right? That is, the Constitution, honor, values, morals, Freedom, etc. I don't get it. Why don't some of our House and Senate members speak with angst on the House and Senate floors? Why don't they set the record straight and come out against the enemies of America by telling the American people what is going on, or by showing some emotion towards American haters in our own government?

As it stands, it appears that all it'd take would be for some honorable, dutiful men to occupy our government. Even the ones who are on our side often do not look like it. With God-fearing, Constitution loving men, we could stop the slide and reverse the trend. However, we're not doing nor seeing that. I only can pray that things change.

I did read your post and while well written, it reflects the worldview of a 24 year old that thinks his education is enough to understand the reality of the world.

Actually, the post reflects the frustrations that brought many of us to FR in the first place. I also think a little "polishing" would improve it.

It goes along with the FreedomFriend's point on public education I suppose (BTW, does that also apply to public colleges such as Georgia State?), but I'd submit that high school graduates 40-50 years ago had better writing skills that most college graduates today.

Yeah, you're right. However, I suppose that it was the result of me being ganged-up on.

Oh well.

FreedomFriend, thanks for being such a good sport. Sure, we went for the bottom instead of going for the top as you had hoped, but these things happen. And hey, the points expressed in your essay can be debated at some other time - they weren't rejected here or destroyed. Cheers!

I don't know why you would think that. What if I were to have stated that I was 48 years old? Personally, I believe that you wouldn't have made a comment about my age. However, what does that have to do with it?

Generally speaking, I know why this country, as well as the world, is in the shape it is. In fact, I've been a member of this forum for nearly a year, though under a different name. I've learned a lot from this website. In fact, it allowed me to fill in the "missing pieces" that were exempt in my take on historic events, politics, cultural concerns, and current events. It's truly been a great asset.

I posted this topic because, like I previously stated, I thought that it would generate discussion in an effort to bring about a possible plan of action. That's all. While I know that one person can't do it all, we all must do our part.

The second reason I posted this thread was because it has baffled me how even our "Conservative" leaders continue to walk in step with the socialist agenda, thus ensuring the status quo of the "slippery slope". Realistically, it seems beyond comprehension as to why at least a few individuals have not come forward to show angst to our dire situation. In fact, the house and senate floors seem awfully "calm". There's too much "getting along" or "bipartisanship". This, in essence, allows things to continue in the wrong direction. The same can be said for private enterprise and big business. Why haven't some financially solid conservatives pooled their money together and purchased a major network or newspaper? It would seem that a true Conservative would have done so by now given the current state of affairs. If it's the Socialists who don't want to sell, then that's one thing. If it's not, however, then it really says something about the people of America.

Again, I didn't want this to become a spelling post. Okay, so what, I spelled one word wrong. Sue me. I later misspelled a few other words because I was a little perturbed. However, I forgive you all. Actually, I am a rather bright individual. Oh well. You don't have to believe me if you don't want to.

Another thing. No, I do not think that I'm special. I've been out of college for nearly two years, and it was tough as nails to land that first job. When I first came out of college, I may have thought that I would find a job easily, get $50,000-70,000 pay, but I have long since past those days. I only recently found a job in my field. This occurred about two months ago. I still work several jobs because I only earn a $25,000/yr salary, and I still have a few bills to pay off. I thought it was funny that someone actually would have thought that I was expecting a huge salary. In actuality, $70,000 would be a huge amount of money for a single guy such as myself. Though, I am able to pay my bills and have a little spending money with the income I earn.

This has been my take on it.

Public education has been systematically dumbed down, removing academic standards and replacing them with "diversity" and other aspects of liberal ideology. It's OK if you can't spell or add, as long as you're doing something about global warming (which, BTW, may well not even exist, but don't tell anyone.)

I whole heartedly agree. I regularly substitute teach, and I have seen the "multiculturalism" and "diversity" commonly displayed throughout the textbooks. It's a shame. I've seen outright environmental lies, as well as lies about history. Check out my thread, "Multiculturalism Run Amuck in the Public Schools", for more info in this regard.

Then there is Hollywood. The movies that make the largest profits are the G-rated movies, so Hollywood makes almost none of those and increases the number of Rs and NC-17s (the euphemism for X) every year. Either they can't get their little pea brains out of the gutter or they have an agenda that has little or nothing to do with maintaining standards or making money.

I also agree, though a bunch of the smut does bring in large amounts of money. We do have an awful lot of degenerate individuals in this country, much the result of a lack of parenting and the very movies they are watching.

Then there are our noble public servants. These are the people who tax us to support deviant art, hand our money to lazy people who refuse to work and to foreign dictators, let terrorists move freely into our country, try to tkae away our self-defense, and do so many other things to protect us from ourselves.

It's totally beyond common sense, isn't it. I can't believe that they allow it to happen. My first guess is that they support deviant art because to fail to do so would be to receive the "wrath" of the Socialist press. They continue to hand out welfare because the press would villanize them as cold-hearted and "against the children". As far as illegal immigration, I can only sense votes and campaign contributions from big business as having something to do with it. However, I truly believe that there are individuals within our government who want to see the entire collapse of this country.

Yes, I am the first in my immediate family to graduate. However, I have uncles and cousins who are graduates. My dad's brother is a college professor at the University of Alabama at Birmingham. Or, if he isn't a "doctor", he's an instructor at the school.

No, I don't feel that no one else has been down my path. If you'll look at response number 350, I pretty much summed it up.

You'll find the answers to all your questions in George Lukacs, "The Process of Democritization." It will tell you all you need to know about the PC culture!

Great. Where could I find this great read?

Huh? Are you looking for a gay military or something? I liked it better when you only defended your spelling, dumby.

There is no way I would support a gay military. The very idea sends shivers down my spine.

Am I not supposed to talk about the posted topic?

We get new young grads working for us often. They come in with an attitude, expect to start at 70K a year and the rest of us who have experieced life for 20 some odd years don't have a clue. It's not all new grads, but over the last couple years, it has increased dramatically.

Well, I don't know if you could classify me as a new grad since I graduated nearly two years ago. However, only recently did I obtain employment in my field. I stated this in response number 350. I suppose that I'll agree that I expected to find a job right out of college. It is something that is pretty much guaranteed you in the words of many of your professors (I now realize they say this to continue to fill the classes so that they'll have a job). I never expected such a high income in my field, though I did want a $50,000 salary. I thought that I could obtain it. However, I came back to reality after a year and a half job search and many interviews. I was given a salary of $25,000. I know that's not much, but after so much dissapointment, I was happy to get it.

I think we need to focus on the immediate and serious needs....contain and deport the illegals and overstayed visas, provide ample vaccine for the public, uncensor national news ..we need an early warning sytem. theres a time for debate and a time for joking, this is not that time... we forgot the power of the people

I think those suggestions are great ideas. However, I believe it's been said, "if it's a great idea, it'll never fly". I don't know why, but that seems to be true. The deportation of illegals needs to be a priority. Even after thousands of our countrymen were killed by illegal terrorists, we continue to allow them into our country, further destroying the cultural fiber of our country, not to mention giving the ability to strike again.

I believe that the people, at least sane people, are no longer to be heard. It's as if we are shunned if we say anything. It appears that anything less than a revolution will fail. Hopefully, God will change some hearts, for HE can do anything. However, perhaps this is all part of God's plan, the one revealed to us in His Word, The Holy Bible.

I got to tell you, I read the "vanity" article by FreedumbFriend and cracked up that someone could flub the spelling so bad, and all the posts are an absolute crack-up. Someone said that to post here you better have pretty thick skin.

No vanity here, just an attempt to generate good, honest discussion.

After dinner and a lot of good Chilean wine, I notice that FreedomFriend seems to have long-since abandoned the cause and departed the thread.

I departed because I had to go to work.

What people should understand is that in this format, if you can't be articulate and succinct in a couple of paragraphs, you probably don't know what the he** you're talking about, and, no one cares! And if you are so wrapped up in self-importance that you are offended by the comments, chau amigo, as we say down here.

I felt like I articulated my thought rather well in "a couple of paragraphs". At least many others thought so. I definitely know what I'm talking about, but I wanted to gather ideas. What do you have against that?

Our school systems, collectively, are a travesty. Our heritage, our Constitution........hell, our history as a nation.........aren't being taught any longer. Political correctness reigns on campuses across the country. Major media outlets are owned, run, and manned by leftists spewed forth by these Socialist-leaning institutions of indoctri......er, "education". Judeo-Christian thought, teachings, and beliefs have been eradicated from anything resembling a public forum, and we have lost our "moral center" as a nation. With no anchor, no surprise the ship of state goes adrift.

I agree. I substitute teach a lot, and I have noticed the huge amount of "multiculturalist" and "diversity" material that is littered throughout the textbooks. Furthermore, multiculturalism is now being pushed in the form of school performances and assemblies. You might want to check out my take on these things in the "Multiculturalism Run Amuck in the Public Schools", thread.

I agree. It appears that we have lost our moral center. As a young adult, a mere 24 years old, it seems that I have seen my country slip away in a span of about ten years. However, I do know that our country, in this regard, has been deteriorating over a longer timespan. It's a shame what has happened. However, according to the Word of God, a country that shuns God will not reap His blessings.

Fifteen yards for piling on, and replay the down.

I disagree. I would like to challenge that ruling, so that we may see the replay over and over and over...:-)

FreedomFriend really stepped in it. As fellow freeper KC Burke said you must have thick skin because FR can take on the "cordiality of a 7th grade bus stop".
