Here is
the short article from yesterday in which Sullivan lambasted Talbot for his sycophantic suck-up to Susan "I don't REALLY hate America!" Sontag.
This is one of the saddest rants I have ever read in any supposedly "respectable" publication. It is so blatantly obvious that Talbot is merely using his position as head of Salon to launch a purely personal attack, for no other reason than that someone publicly called him on the carpet for his pathetic example of giving aid and comfort to the enemy.
And notice how, all of a sudden, it IS just about sex? Now that Talbot has brought up Sullivan's bareback fun (which has nothing at all to do with the charges against Talbot), neither Talbot nor anybody else as Salon can EVER AGAIN try to make that false claim about the right only being obsessed with Clinton's sex life. Every time they do, we can throw this right back into their faces.

Sorry about all the dead links in the cut-and-pasted article. They all worked on the preview page!

On his Web site, he does not just engage antiwar writer Katha Pollitt, whose tortured ruminations in the Nation on whether to fly a flag from her New York apartment window were admittedly neurotic and absurd. He seeks to obliterate her, gloating after a lopsided debate with her on public radio that "I took no prisoners." In the church of Sullivan, those who criticize or express ambivalence about the bombing of Afghanistan are not just wrong -- they are corrupt souls who must be excommunicated from the American congregation."Well, Your Stammering is Eloquent" (Andrew Sullivan makes a fool of Katha Pollit on NPR)
Radio Smackdown! Andrew Sullivan wipes floor with Katha Pollitt
Sullivan asks Pollit what the US should do, she keeps avoiding the issue, and criticizing US policy, and blah blah blah, but she won't say what the US should do. He keeps asking her, and finally she answers him that she hasn't thought it through yet. And then he says, "if you haven't thought it through by now" (or something to that effect). It was so damn funny! Remember, this interview was over a MONTH after the WTC attacks, and Pollit is claiming she hasn't thought through what the US should do... she's empty, she has no real ideas.
Sullivan was tough, he was almost a bully. But he was right, sometimes you have to push people to get answers from them.

Looks like Andrew finally got to them. :o)
Good going Andrew, you know you're ahead of the pack when they spend all their time trying to stab you in the back.
As to the comment about FreeRepublic, Andrew Sullivan knows he has a lot of friends here.

It wasn't FreeRepublic.com that rallied around Sullivan; those conservative "enclaves" are too busy tossing kindling on the pyres to burn the sodomites.I remember defending Sullivan on FR, and I remember a lot of other people standing up for him here, too.

Real deal is that Sullivan has got this twit's number. Said twit (Talbot) gave himself away when he referred to Sontag's writings as *texts*. The word texts is pretentious/ deconsctruto/ liberal university/ New York Review of Books speak

Like most left-wingers Talbot can dish it out but can't take it. When you are beaten you resort to ad hominem attacks, and you play especially rough when the foe is a turncoat gay.

Sullivan's Taliban style of argument Apparently, leftists no longer call people who disagree with them "Nazis," having found a new bogeyman.

Bump for Andrew Sullivan.
He is unrivalled in his ability to attack the coastal elites on their own home turf. Imagine: a gay man with the audacity to display patriotism, admiration for religion, and plain common sense! He understandably horrifies the likes of David "Free Love" Talbot.
Andrew is a true conservative and a Patriot.

"It wasn't FreeRepublic.com that rallied around Sullivan; those conservative "enclaves" are too busy tossing kindling on the pyres to burn the sodomites. Their latest cause is blasting the Bush administration for apologizing on behalf of the Navy crewmen who painted "hijack this, fags" on missiles headed toward Afghanistan."ROFL.................as long as you spell the name right, Talbot..:)

I honestly didn't know that SALON still existed (seriously). Reading this loathsome piece of flatulent vulture dung from Talbot just reminded me of why I stopped reading it several months ago!

I remember defending Sullivan on FR, and I remembera lot of other people standing up for him here, too.You have to remember Freepers are mostly social conservatives.
For many of these people, sexuality blinds them to any
other attributes a person has. That's what absolutes
do for you.

Aren't Talbot and Steve Brill entwined in a death embrace as they go under for the last time?
Someone of Sullivan's intellect needs Salon a LOT less than they need him.

Couldn't a person be "liberal" and still view homosexuality as the deviance it is?

I remember defending Sullivan on FR, and I remember a lot of other people standing up for him here, too. That's exactly what I recall, too....

Talbot can't even get this right. The picture included a bomb with "high jack (sic) this fags" written on the side.
Here's my updated version...
To: backhoe
I also remember some people NOT sticking up for him... FR does have its share of people with anti-gay attitudes, as well.

Salon.com
Still, the greatest stock short sale in history. That's about all it was good for. Now please, just go away.

You have to remember Freepers are mostly social conservatives. If this is the case, why did we defend Sullivan in such numbers?
