I think the situation is rather complicated. First, the country or “state” was called Palestine for thousands of years. On all maps published before 1948, it is labeled “Palestine”.

Repeat the lie often enough and it becomes believeable?
Or are you just ignorant?

"Palestine" was a regional label, like "Levant", also in common use at the time.
Find me country data such as monetary system, embassies, flag and other characteristics of a country for "Palestine" prior to 1964.

I'll wait.

Go find it yourself. It was a state inside the Ottoman Empire for many years. Then it was a colony of England.

Bingo. Claiming "palestine" was ever a country because it's name showed up on a map is like saying that "South America" or "Indochina" were once countries.

Further, the very name, "palestine," was given by the Romans to the region often called Judaea after the siege of Jerusalem in 70 A.D. It was derived from the Greek "philistine" named for the people who once occupied the area of Gaza (Gath), and was intended as an anti-semitic insult to the Jews after the fall of Jerusalem.

BTW, Fred25... The Philistines were long dead even by this time. The archaeological record for them ends around 700 or 800 BC. The "palestinians" are not descended from them, because they are Ishmaelites. Most so-called "palestinians" are descended from itinerant laborers who came to work on Jewish settlements in the late 19th and early 20th Centuries. There never has been a nation of "palestine," not under the Caliph, nor the Turks, nor under Jordan.

But if you want to talk about creating a so-called "palestinian state," Jordan is a good place to start... since the purpose of Jordan (there never was a nation of Jordan until the 1920s) was specifically to be a "palestinian homeland."
