FBI is such a waste of time. This letter or all of these letters could have been deposited in a drop off box or someone could have driven by someone's mailbox and put it in it.From Atlanta to Florida to New Jersey. Am I the only person on here who thinks the FBI is a waste of resources at working at nothing but diversion?

True, but some of these guys were almost as overt as possible before 911...they may have mailed this stuff from their own house. Idiots abound!

You have to be able to dismiss the obvious possibilities before you can move on to the less-obvious ones.

I think this is just methodical investigation, however I strongly disagree with the information being made public.
It could easily cause the culprit(s) to leave the area. Door to door footwork should be conducted, and those people contacted might be able to supply clues.
Sometimes information is released to get the public's help, othertimes it should not be released until the culprits are apprehended. It is always a tough call to make IMO.

"letters could have been deposited in a drop off box"The article clearly states that the woman NEVER picks up mail from public boxes. Perhaps it isn't the FBI that's a waste of time, but your posts instead?
I bet they catch this clown PDQ, unless he's skipped town already.

A letter carrier's route in Northwestern Idaho? They would be supremely foolish if they didn't check this route out. No guarantee of finding a clue, but you're guaranteed not to find a clue if you don't investigate this obvious lead.

Well, knowing the past stupidity of the first WTC bombers of trying to get a deposit back for a missing truck! its worth a shot.

Apparently you are, What would you want them to do? Throw their arms up in the air and say, "We have no idea."? Give them a break, of course they want to catch these people and they are going to cover every clue at their disposal.

someone could have deposited it in someone elses mailbox, but we won't know that until the people on the route are investigated. Is the FBI supposed to just assume someone did what you said and not investigate the route?

First of all, the article stated that the carrier did not pick up mail from any drop boxes, just personal homes and apt.s. Second, of course anyone could have stopped and put the mail into one of the boxes, but that doesn't mean they should not check each and every address on that route. These terrorists are not exactly the brightest bulbs on the tree or they wouldn't be willing to die for Bin Laden.

Abd what makes you presume it's solely the FBI investigating? The Postal Inspectors are also working these cases. And probably along with other law enforcement agencies, are now going door to door, checking out each address and each mailbox (and her route did not include any dropoff boxes). Even if the perps have skedaddled, there may well be traces of anthrax in the resident's mailbox--not only endangering the resident but the mail carrier. And they might even find a fingerprint or two which could ID the perps.
But hey, the FBI is such a waste of time....so I want to know, and with some detail and specificity, how you are going to track down these terrorists?

These guys are toast. I'm surprised news hasn't already broken of their capture. They never would have anticipated that their *mail carrier* would become infected, and that the carrier only serviced private mailboxes.
It should only be a matter now of swabbing 300 mailboxes for either anthrax or cleaning fluid residue.

Smoke and mirrors..........FiBi's have too many excuses as to why they "can't" when they should be concerned with what they "can"........
I believe a little overt visable work will smoke out the critters. What was the line from the movie where those that ran were VC and those that didn't were well disclipned VC.........
IMHO if the suspects run , field interview and watch, if they don't.......field interview and watch. Bumping into the same big old FiBi everyday on the way to the job, gedunk , and or mosque or just to walk rover can make a very simple statement .
Stay Safe

The only thing is, the FBI is just about as dull-witted and Clouseau-ish as are the arab terrorists.
Never forget these guys tried to get their rental-truck deposit money back from the agency, AFTER the truck was blown up in the 1996 attempt on the WTC.
Not many Cal Tech grads in either camp.
