They're training them to accept the eventual inevitable chip implant more easily. It will be less of a shock to them if they're used to 'wearing ID'.

A good start early in life for what will no doubt be a future requirement at most businesses. Both wife and I must wear them now. And since 9-11 they (the security people) are getting very strict that they be worn at all times.

Just desensetizing them to socialistic ideas, as usual. Homeschool, or private school instead.

It may be considered a hate crime if your son's name is "Harry Butt"!

It'll cut down on punks and thugs sneaking in. Fine by me.

I don't think that the school should make students wear an ID card, it may get lost.

The school should just tatoo the information on their forehead.

A friend of mine had to have a photo ID, she got detention for defacing it with comments comparing her ID number to a prison number.

We had to wear ID tags when I was in highschool. I graduated in 1996. It was kind of a joke. It was to make sure people who didn't go to school there wouldn't be on campus. But if they saw us without the nametag, they would say, "put your nametag on"..and that's all. I don't mind having an ID card, because you have to have that in college, but wearing the ID's on your clothing at school is a joke. I may be wrong. :) take care

I had high school IDs in the early 80's. Only had to be worn whenever there was some sort of altercation at the school for security reasons. Other than that, I kept it in my wallet.

I don't see why this is a bad idea. Many corporations now have their employees wear their name badges around their necks. Some high schools have problems with non-students coming on campus, and this is one way to quickly identify these people. Since high school students have to have IDs anyway, what difference does it make if it's in a pocket or hanging around a student's neck?

Too funny. We would cut out pictures from the Far Side and cover our faces with them. My principal stopped me one day and got on to me for having that. lol

I hate ID tags. I've had to wear them in several adult jobs I've had.

It's a bad idea for children in gummint schools to 'have' to wear them. It's called conditioning. Tell your kid to 'lose' his and see if anyone in the school can vouch for him.

Ban gummint schools.

Just attatch a copy of your realestate/property tax bill to juniors arss. As others have said so well.....Homeschool.

No argument intended, but if you have to ask an internet forum on how to deal with raising your kids, you have a bigger problem than the school ID.

I remember we did that at my high school after they started giving out ID's after the school shooting in Colorado. It was pretty funny (didn't get in trouble though). Somebody even printed up orange prisoner shirts to wear with it.

Waaaay back yonder in the last century during the Cold War some school systems issued military type dog tags to kids. Within three days most of the kids were wearing other kid's tags, some kids with several sets around their necks.

We do it where I sub. That way, the kids are easily identified (and I've had those who have previously refused to give their names, even in class), it's easy to know if the student in question is someone who doesn't belong there. It also serves as a library card. I have no problem with it as it serves a security purpose.
