the entire airport? There are 8 or more distinct terminals? why in God's name would you evaculate the entire complex because of "powder" in one building?

I am suspicious that this is an incomplete story ... need more data.

So, you want them to ignore a possible substance and allow passengers to walk right in to another attack?

Why spend all the money for more security if you want them to ignore possible problems. I want them to spot problems and check them out for my safety when flying. Otherwise, I am the next innocent passenger that will be killed when something they chose to ignore was in fact a substance that could have been investigated. Hm....guess there would be a number of lawsuits there. Great for the lawyers.

This is getting weird. What the hell? Are they mixing "anthrax-like" bacillus with creamers and talcum now? That would really mess people's heads up!

I think all of these scares (including the ones containing Anthrax) are a diversionary tactic. Just think how many of our law enforcement officials are required to investigate all of these goings on, instead of them being allowed to investigate the source of the next real terrorist attack.

I chose it because I signed up during the election recounts. I looked at the infamous Bush Country map, and realized I was surrounded by blue. I live in Connecticut, and every single stinkin' county in CT (as well as Massachussetts and Rhode Island) went for Gore. Free Republic is my island of sanity. Fortunately we have a Republican Governor, John Rowland. He's done some dumb things, like get screwed by the owner of the Patriots, but by and large he's been a good governor, and largely free of scandal.

I want them to use their heads.
Closing down the entire airport EVERY time some white powder is found is more than a bit extreme.
By doing so, every airport in the country could be shutdown a couple times a week by
a handful of guys walking around with a pocket full of creamer and a open/closeable hole.

Better safe than sorry. Let them shut down anything that might hurt someone. This will all be over in the near future, when the other side of the world is in ruins. The sooner the better.

This sounds wonderful but that doesn't work. If they use their heads - they will say - "it's probably just sweet and low". Of course, the terrorist will put the substance exactly where the authorities would not be suspicious. The purpose is to terrify or kill us - not to enable us to get through the airport faster.

Our world has now changed because some evil people or pransters choose to have all the available funds spent on checking, investigating, searching every nook and cranny to try and provide us a measure of safety.

We have no choice but to try and protect ourselves.
