Um, rdb3? This was a parody of the 2000 election battle. The "butterfly bat" is the tipoff. I'm an Indian's fan too, have been since 1964 when I saw Leon Wagner hit a home run and the Stadium scoreboard exploded.
The fact you find this unfunny (because it's not realistic, I'm sure), speaks volumes about the 2000 election.

I'll go with the Bombers in seven. Me too, only the Bombers I have in mind have the initials B-1, B-2, B-52 and the cleanup hitter is named "Bunker Buster"!!

This sounds pretty typical of an M's fan. They like to try and rub it in your face. Being a gracious winner is not what the M's fans are all about. It's funny because from what I can see most of them don't even understand the game. The M's have some classy players, too bad the fans can't follow suit. The good thing is that they will be eliminated by the Yankees and no one will even care.

I understand that right now they are burning Chief Wahoo's in effigy outside of the district court where the hearings are being held. Will search for a link...

Please elaborate. I'm not quite sure what you mean.

The irony to all of this(and I dont know if the author of this piece realizes it) is that Manny Ramirez helped Cleveland throw the playoffs in 1998. It was all rigged and so obvious when he jumped for a fly ball on the warning track, and it landed a good five to six feet behind him.

Nothing wrong with this article. As Art Modell proved a few years ago--if you believe in pro sports you must also believe in Santa, Easter Bunny etc.

Thanks for the flag, pollyshy. This is one of the funniest things I've read in a while.
Molly, I hope rdb3 isn't typical of Cleveland fans. If so, Cleveland must be a terribly humorless place.

Typical Seattle leftist mentality. You guys are going to LOSE. Not if Lou is willing to cheat. As he said, he's got the league and the umps in his corner. As if the Yankees really won the World Series THAT many times, without cheating. Give me a break!
To: Wanker
Quick question - why is it called the World Series when the USA is the only country in the world that takes part? And THAT is the REAL reason Osama has declared Jihad against America.
To: YoursIn Liberty
You ARE serious? ... A lawyer took this case? ..... A court will hear this? ... All this AFTER the games are played and LOST? ... Must be true sprtsmanship! Apparently Cleveland has a good case. Judge Judy on channel 42 is going over the hearing right now. Ballpark Franks, the packaged meat in a bun company, are threatening to cancel their support of major league baseball. Franks & co. feel the game has gone the way of boxing.
To: rdb3
Sorry to offend you, and or Cleveland. Just having some fun. Trust me, I'll make plenty of fun of Seattle if/when we lose to the Yanks. It was just a parody of the whole election fiasco, nothing against Cleveland. In fact, I give Cleveland a ton of credit, they just about made the Mariners one of the biggest jokes in baseball history. Cleveland played their guts out.
To: Roebucks
You forgot to mention how the Indians hired a telemarketing firm from Seattle to contact all the players who might not know how to swing the butterfly bat, alerting them that they should sue the bat manufacturer and accuse the bat designer of a partisan Mariner bat design. LOL!

Hey professional, wanna know something....I'm from C-town and am proud of the fact that we have a great city and sports tradition. We also have to be thick skinned from all the piling on that's taken place over the years.PLEASE enjoy but enjoy with a bit of humility and class.
By the way,as I watched your fans celebrate the other day in the 9th inning, one of your fans was pumping his arms in the air in an uncoordinated fashion as if he were milking a 16 ft cow, don't let him go to anymore games if you guys can help it.
To: Professional
Very funny stuff. I understand the US Civil Rights Commission is looking into an inherent bias in the game favoring Orientals--they're saying there's evidence that security checkpoints outside the stadium were focused in Indians neighborhoods, thus supressing the Indian fan base.
To: rdb3
Lighten up!! Cleveland gets TONS of non-PC points simply for retaining the nickname, uniforms, and mascot. And the DRUMS in the bleachers absolutely kill me!! My wife and I were howling watching the Florida State game this weekend (with the spear-chucking, war-painted, horse-riding mascot)...and then to see the drum-beating drunks at the Jake on national TV was priceless. The PC police must be having a cow.
FWIW, I don't think the parody was a slam at Cleveland. I think he'd have written it the same way regardless of the opponent...and Cleveland surely has nothing to be ashamed of (although they will on Sunday when the Ravens pound the Browns...)
