I'm not a Catholic primarily because the Catholic church and the papacy oppose capital punishment, whereas I wholeheartedly support it, especially for mass murdering terrorist filth. The church is too left-wing for me, as sadly are most of them nowadays. The Islamic militant extremist mass murdering cowards and their filthy legions cannot be preached to, converted, or reasoned with, only killed. I'd prefer the Catholic church resume its former preimminence, issue a Papal bull to annihilate Islam, and summarily excommunicate and persecute left-wing God haters, liberals, and anti-western dirtbags. Now that would be a faith I can live with.

I sometimes have difficulty accepting authority. I tend to rebel against anything an authority figure says -- even when he's right. I have found the Catholic Church to be a help in this regard. I quickly realized that if I started questioning everything a Catholic authority figure tells me, I would never have time to practice Catholicism. As a result, I've become much more accepting, and it's carried over into my non-Catholic life in a positive way. I'm a lawyer and as such have virtually no respect for authority of any kind. I'm the worst scofflaw you've ever seen. I sometimes break rules just for the sheer fun of it. I'm damned near an anarchist at heart.
But I took to the Catholic Church with all its majesty and authority as a convert with a fervor that I pray never leaves me. Why? Because for the first time in my life, I recognize true and legitimate authority.

How do we post links of interest? Is an underline supposed to appear below the address, in order for the link to come up on the post?

Anyone on this thread familiar with a group or publishing company called Logos. They are presenting scripture studies. I think its a five year program. Any information would be appreciated. Thanks.

Rochester: welcome home. I came back about 3 years ago after drifting along for 16. Thanks Mudpuppy! I took some strange paths during the time I was away from the Church. It all came up empty, especially when compared to the eternal wisdom of His Word.
Hang in there with your RCIC class. At least the kids are making the effort to come to class. That's a start! Perhaps you can suggest all of you attending the Saturday evening Mass and get together for a pizza party afterwords! I know you'd rather see them taking the initiative of attending Mass on their own, but you may reach some of them through the "lure" method. Just a suggestion.
Are the kid's parents involved in the program?
I'll keep you and your RCIC class in my prayers.

We used to live in Edmond and attended St. John the Baptist during the days of Fr. Levin. We were married by him and he baptized our two children. We've been gone from OK now for 15 years. If you know if Fr. Levin is still around , I'd be interested in hearing.

Catholic wife and Protestant husband (loved the liquor store joke). Nice to share to share fundamental political values with others of the same faith.

Don't know how I missed this earlier, but count me among the Catholics at this site. I haven't had time to read all of the posts yet, but i would recommend that people, Catholics and non-Catholics alike, read anything and everything written by Scott and Kimberly Hahn, or Gerry Mattatics (sp?). Three great converts, who were able to see the Truth about Catholicism the MORE they read the Bible.

Add me to the Catholic FR list!!
I converted to the Catholic Church 5 years ago - grew up Methodist/Presbyterian.
Anyway - it was through Catholic homeschooling (our 3 sons) that "turned the light bulb on for me". I had been going to Mass (and my own church) for ten years - with my husband, who is a cradle Catholic.
We live in southern IN - Archdiocese of Indianapolis - however - we attend church in Louisville - which is in the Archdiocese of Louisville. :)
