This is so stupid, and actually, is to be expected in this time of crisis. Let them do their worst. Bring it on, drug warriors! Bring it on! I could care less. Woo Hoo! Yep, let's start banning all hemp products. Dumb. Idiotic. Hemp's only "crime" is to look like another plant.

Other countries, such as Canada, which has a growing hemp industry, are starting to move out in front on this issue. There they are developing markets for hemp. Strange to relate, but guess what? Capitalism rules! In a couple of years, this will look even dumber than it does now.

I've been thinking this myself, which accounts for my poor showing on similar threads (well, that and my boss also expects me to work from time to time! Imagine that!). However, this one seems to be a bit damned excessive of the DEA. May need to rouse myself from slumber.

Your post got me thinking. Canada just recently loosened it's growing of hemp rules. How will this effect NAFTA? If Canada imports and the US says no....won't the US be in violation of "unfair" trade practices? Just a thought...such as that has happened.

IMHO, now is not the time to argue for legalization as distinct from the status quo, but now is very much the time to worry about a government which is actively putting new restrictions on its own citizens rather than going after the acknowleged and immediate enemies.

If the DEA edict is as described, I find it the most distressing development to have emerged after September 11. Not because I have any particular interest in hemp products, but rather because it represents such a clear example of the government seeking to expand its power for purposes which so ovbiously have nothing to do with the legitimate goal of stopping terrorism.

Why are government resources still going towards this when there are TERRORISTS AMONG US!? WTF is wrong with people? Christ, even if you want to resume it later, fine, but at this time shouldn't every law enforcement person's priority be terrorists over pot smokers?

Anthrax is being mailed throughout the country. THOUSANDS of civilians were murdered horrifically. Is anyone still concerned about their neighbor getting high or are you more concerned with terrorists running around with biological agents? Let's have some fricking perspective here.
