Hemp, as we both know, as a product is a hippy induced pro-dope smoker front. Hmm. That doesn't seem to be what the Department of Agriculture was saying back in 1942...
I tried to like Iron Maiden but never quite managed. They have neat album covers though. Pink Floyd rules...

Your post got me thinking. Canada just recently loosened it's growing of hemp rules. How will this effect NAFTA? If Canada imports and the US says no....won't the US be in violation of "unfair" trade practices? Just a thought...such as that has happened.

I agree. Nobody ever got high from smoking hemp...a bad headache maybe, but never high.

We have a Drug Enforcement Administration that smirks while the nation is drugged up by giant mainstream pharmecuetical companies while making a show of cracking down on the harmless hemp industry. Beautiful.
Until the DEA weighs in on the epidemic of "behavior drugs" and "diet" speed and sets its priorities, it has no credibilty regarding hemp.
Defund the DEA until it gets it right.

Ive been wondering if they can be compressed. They burn easily, but theyve all got a lot of arms and legs that stick out all over the place, like an old dead Christmas tree, and some of them have stickers on them. When you walk by them, they grab hold of your pants or socks and try to follow you. If you get tangled up in two or three of them, youve got to fight them off and kick them.

Check out the link in #121 -- it purports to be a transcript of the "Hemp for Victory" film. Even mentions that sisal hemp you posted links about one time.

Weve got about 6 different kinds out here in New Mexico. One small kind has a lot of stickers, and one larger kind will get about 4 feet across. They are just different kinds of weeds that are green during the summer, but this time of year they dry out, break off at the base, and curl up and fill up our yards.

Actually, the brain DOES produce a chemical similar to THC (cannabinoids) and has neuroreceptors used exclusively for this purpose. This is probably true, although the research is more convincing to users of marijuana than to the majority of us- however, that is NOT the point I was refuting. Please go back and read the original posts.

Unfortunately, hemp oil isn't all that great, from a number of economic and engineering perspectives. There are better alternatives out there. This is similar to the "hemp paper is better" push. Any paper engineer can tell you that soft fir pulp is superior for a large number of reasons, and that hemp was replaced with other fibers for good reason (after all, hemp was used for a time).
I don't have anything against hemp, but it is highly over-rated as an industrial plant.
You sound extremely ignorant of the facts.
But then William Randolph Hearst and his yellow paper journalism did their work well.

I will continue my "cease fire" on this issue until bin Laden is dead, and the Taliban is run out of power. After that, it's no holds barred. I will put up a fanatical resistance to this type of stupidity. IMHO, now is not the time to argue for legalization as distinct from the status quo,
but now is very much the time to worry about a government which is actively putting new restrictions on its own citizens rather than going after the acknowleged and immediate enemies.
If the DEA edict is as described, I find it the most distressing development to have emerged after September 11. Not because I have any particular interest in hemp products, but rather because it represents such a clear example of the government seeking to expand its power for purposes which so ovbiously have nothing to do with the legitimate goal of stopping terrorism.

Amazing. In the midst of the greatest crisis since Pearl Harbor, some government agencies still find plenty of time to make total idiots of themselves.

Smoke a joint and just relax and be stupid. If ya want to come to Los Angeles some time, and get a lesson in humility, just let me know pussy.

I agree there. The demand that it be so white seems to be the main problem. The cannabis advocates are making a uselss argument here. It's a simple matter of constitutional freedoms. In the early 1900's it was an accepted fact that the goverment had no authority to prohibit personal use of anything, that's why this started with the Harrison Tax Act. If you wish to see a prime example of abuse of authority you should read up on how that was enforced.
