Ah now I was waiting for this one to come up! Who was the first person to hear the Word of God and really keep it in a literal sense?
Was it Zechari'ah? It certainly wasn't Mary.
Jesus is not admonishing his mother, but stating why she is truly Blessed.
Is your imagination running wild? Where do you read Jesus was admonishing his mother?
What Jesus said:
"Blessed rather are those who hear the word of God and keep it!"
What Pelayo says:
Jesus is not admonishing his mother, but stating why she is truly Blessed.
What Jesus said;
All who hear the word of God and keep it are blessed.

Was it Zechari'ah? It certainly wasn't Mary. Oh yes it was and you know it. The Word is Jesus, and Jesus was first made known to the mother. And that mother "kept all these things, pondering them in her heart." Zechari'ah did not believe when he heard, so he was made mute to make sure that John would be the name of his son. Now did Mary believe when she heard? Or like Zechari'ah was she made mute?
